Richjoxyz Posted May 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2015 We are platinum and enjoy Carnival. (We enjoy other cruise lines also!) What Can Carnival do to improve? I'll start: The Taste Bar is usually unused. If they are going to have a "Taste Bar", I would like to see some food when I walk by, not an empty closed bar. I like the "Free Drink" appreciation events and would like to see more of that. On Christmas Cruises they give out free champagne for the first couple hours upon boarding. Taking these events away takes away a little of the fun. Upgrade the food in the buffet. (Take a hint from Holland America.) Anyone else?
cmecruise1962 Posted May 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2015 They really need to improve this option. They need to speed up the service and make it more consistent...not sure why they have such a problem with this, but for the first time I opted for the buffet (actually the deli) over the MDR two out of four nights. vwrestler171 Posted May 24, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2015 Enforce their rules. Keep kids out of the hot tubs, enforce dress codes in the MDR, no blue, red, gold in the PG party. Taste Bar is used at night, similar to when the sushi bar was used.
Gryffindor55 Posted May 24, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2015 Carnival needs to scrap there rust bucket ships. Get rid of the putrid Fantasy class ships that aren't good for anything!
HollandAvery Posted May 24, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 24, 2015 I would really like my free drink at Seaday Brunch coupon back. One thing my SO and I were looking forward to, but now it's gone. I'd also like to hear some nice jazz or big band music in the MDR during dinner. Oh, and real steel drums up on the Lido would be great too. I've heard it is making a comeback though. Son of a son of a ... Posted May 24, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 24, 2015 Create a tiered level of quality/service like NCL. If you want top tier, then go haven. If you want some decent sun deck, then go vibe. Pay for the better quality

HollandAvery Posted May 24, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 24, 2015 Enforce their rules. Keep kids out of the hot tubs, enforce dress codes in the MDR, no blue, red, gold in the PG party. Taste Bar is used at night, similar to when the sushi bar was used. I agree with you 100% on enforcing the rules. I love kids, I work with them 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. But when I'm on vacation I need to be able to escape them every once in awhile, but if they are in places they aren't supposed to be in that makes it quite a bit more difficult. I like the enforcing the dress codes in the MDR as well. My SO and I enjoy dressing nice for the MDR and dressing up for elegant night...wish others would still have to do this when dining in the MDR. Flip-flops and cut-off denim shorts should be for the Lido, not the MDR.

kelkel2 Posted May 24, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 24, 2015 I actually agree with them enforcing their rules. I think it frustrates everyone when we are all trying to enjoy a sea day and all I can find near the pool are chairs with towels on them. Now I know they implemented the stickers on chairs, but it has been hit and miss if this is actually getting done. Also, I really think faster service in the MDR for anytime dining is a must. It's just crazy. I don't know too many people who want to be in the dining room for 2 hours. At least not on my cruise when I have activities to do and places to explore. I hate to compare, I really do, but Princess does anytime dining right. Carnival and Princess are part of the same corporation, maybe Carnival should ask them how they do it. We had anytime dining with them and we didn't ever have dinner take that long.
OCruisers Posted May 24, 2015 #12 Share Posted May 24, 2015 Better food! Especially on Fantasy Class ships where there are no Steakhouses. :( LuLu
cruisexlife Posted May 24, 2015 #13 Share Posted May 24, 2015 (edited) Carnival should improve upon ship placements. Are they really going to keep Miracle in Long Beach sailing full when Tampa is dying for another ship, and she's all that can fit under the bridge? Are they really going to put the gorgeous Liberty and Valor on the 4/5 and 3/4 night cruises? And why is Fascination sailing from San Juan, a tiny little Fantasy class ship, but Splendor is just going to be doing extra 7 nights from Miami? THAT kind of stuff bothers me. Maybe my cold soups while they're at it? :D Edited May 24, 2015 by cruisexlife
CARNIVALCRUISE3 Posted May 24, 2015 #14 Share Posted May 24, 2015 (edited) Bring back the OLD Shows. I don't like the Playlist Productions. Edited May 24, 2015 by CARNIVALCRUISE3
Jana60 Posted May 24, 2015 #15 Share Posted May 24, 2015 Bring back the OLD Shows. I don't like the Playlist Productions. Definitely I agree but I don't think it's going to happen. I chose my last cruise for the absence of playlist productions and found out that they were going to add playlist productions to that ship also and indeed to all of the ships. BTromboneFrack Posted May 24, 2015 #16 Share Posted May 24, 2015 Carnival needs to scrap there rust bucket ships. Get rid of the putrid Fantasy class ships that aren't good for anything! I would disagree. I've travelled on Disney and the Carnival Liberty, but our last cruise was on the Ecstasy, and we had a great time. The ship had plenty to do and I thought the food and service were great. In fact, the cruise I've enjoyed the most over the years was probably on the Paradise. I really think it goes back to everyone's personality whether they enjoy the vacation or not.
xeroxme Posted May 24, 2015 #17 Share Posted May 24, 2015 I agree with consistency in product and changes. All the recent changes we just saw should have happened at once and given a longer timeframe before implementing. I would like new appreciation drink coupon to valid any day after 5 pm. On the last night of cruise after 5 pm. Having a drink is the last thing I'm concerned with. Im normally packing and I want to be rested when I get off ship in the morning. I think there is no mistake as to when they gave this coupon and plan on low use of it. Might as well give me another bottle of water. Lol
mediccruzin Posted May 24, 2015 #18 Share Posted May 24, 2015 I do not cruise for "shows" but I would enjoy some good magicians and illusionists and would like to see some jazz/blues on a ship. I also do not need to be entertained during the day with trivia or what not. Not a cooking demonstration but I would possible be willing to pay for a cooking class by chef if the price was right. Velvetwater Posted May 24, 2015 #19 Share Posted May 24, 2015 (edited) Improve the wow quality of the entertainment and do it in the atrium sometimes...they could also vastly improve the shows to be bigger, longer productions with more entertainers and a band. They could also do away with the dated cabaret singers wearing something from formal night and offer specialist acts that jump on off their ships in the Carribean/Med.Without the Trivia and comedy nights I have no idea what I would do. The day could also do things like food classes and mixology classes as these are very sparse. They could have some educational lectures about the ports that were not just selling you stuff and have art and craft sessions as well. Gold members should get a few more benefits...even something like gold happy hours on certain sailings or a past guest party with just 1 glass of sparkling wine (like the art auction) and the video of ships/introduction to the crew. An extra pool or two would not go a miss on certain ships. The rest of Carnival is pretty much up to scratch. JillySue Posted May 24, 2015 #22 Share Posted May 24, 2015 I'd love a new gold benefit that was actually worth something. I agree with the cooking classes! I'd LOVE to do that. I'd pay extra. Make it something like chefs table where you get a galley tour then go to a private area and have a class. I'd pay good money for something like that! I agree with this, and would also add they should enforce their chair hog policy and their no smoking on balconies policy. There's no point in having rules if you let everyone break them.
