me_phisto Posted May 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2015 Dear all, This December will be our first time at Tortola and we will go there with Norwegian Breakaway on a Friday from 7am to 2:30pm. As it's our first time at this island we are planning to visit the Baths. We've read already a lof of threads about going there and are still not 100% sure if we should do it on our own or book the NCL excursion (without swimming from the boat to the Baths).... As we haven't been there before and time is quite short we might go with the NCL excursion (4 1/2 hours, starting at 7am). If so, we would have some time before leaving Tortola. Any tipps what to do after the excursion? Finally, does anybody know if Norwegian Breakaway will dock in December or do we have to tender? Thank you, Dominik
blue_water Posted May 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2015 So you will have a couple hours after the excursion? There are some nice little shops near the pier, Sunny Caribbee has some excellent spices and rubs. http://sunnycaribbee.com/ Pusser's Pub has good English-style pub food as well as unique clothing. Not much in town unless you want to see the churches and sights, you could hire a driver at the dock for a 1 hr tour if interested. And you'd also have time for a nice island tour offering excellent photo ops from the hilltops. Tortola has some gorgeous beaches as well as island views! ;)
me_phisto Posted May 26, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted May 26, 2015 Hi Blue_water, Thank you for your nice reply. The excursion should be finished at 11:30am so we have two more hours till all aboard (Breakaway departure at 2:30). I like the idea of hiring a driver for a short island tour, do you think we have time for a short walk at brewers bay? Is this the closest beach to the port (if I remember right, it should be a 20minutes drive)? Thank you, Dominik
blue_water Posted May 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2015 Hi Dominik, Yes Brewers is a 20 min taxi, you would get a mini-tour with a regular taxi going to Brewers. Since you're limited on time you should be able to hire a driver for 1.5 hrs for a short tour with a stop at Brewers. It may cost a little more if going on your own.
