Best currency to tip - Sailing from UK

What is the preferred/best currency to tip additionally at the end of the cruise?

 

Sailing from UK, so UK based.

I think the crew would be happy with any currency. However, I imagine they would prefer USD, GBP, or Euro since those would be most easily spent ont he current itineraries.

For our end of cruise WOW envelopes we went to Guest Services for USD. However, if you didn't want to that in sure Euros or GBP would be just as appreciated.

The crew do all their business in US dollars. They are paid in USD and that is what they send home. There are few cruises our of the UK so they have no long term need for GBP.

You could always do a mixture.

The crew love sailing out of Southampton for the shopping.If they have some Sterling and have time on turnaround day to nip in to town they do not have to worry about exchange rates.

we have gone off on our own at ports on international sailings so we had gotten Euros and BP in advance, so we used a mixture of that and USD depending upon what we had on us at the time. The crew always seemed thankful, but we normally tip north of 20% so it probobly doesn't impact as much when doing currency exchanges.
