dorito6778 Posted June 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2015 we could stay on our balcony (starboard) and see the statue but then we'd miss the skyline!
DinaS Posted June 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2015 we could stay on our balcony (starboard) and see the statue but then we'd miss the skyline! Anywhere on the upper decks - depending on what you want to see. The Sunset Bar is good if you want to have a drink and meet other folks. Most cruise critic roll calls arrange to meet at sailaway at the Sunset Bar. Where are the folks from your roll call meeting?
Phxazzcruisers Posted June 4, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2015 The upper decks are better. you can see all sides as opposed to your balcony, unless, of course, you are in the penthouse. Then there is no better view :-)
dorito6778 Posted June 4, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted June 4, 2015 i just realized that cape liberty is south of the statue so we won't sail past her. boo!
schlimazel_traveler Posted June 4, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) We were up on Deck 11 on the aft part of the jogging track that runs port-starboard. From there we had a great view of the production cast dancing on the pool deck, and a great view as we passed under the bridge. CruisingChick Posted June 4, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 4, 2015 Deck 12 all the way forward. You sail past the Statute of Liberty on your port side. But you only see the side of her. If you are lucky and are in a suite you might get invited to the heli-pad for sail away.

CruisingChick Posted June 4, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 4, 2015 i should be so lucky! Yea me too. We are always in an inside, but one of our favorite bar servers told us about it and told us to come up there. We did not of course as we were not officially invited. philpcruiser Posted June 4, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) At Cape Liberty, if the ship is docked bow out (facing the bay, starboard to pier), the Statue of Liberty will be about 2 miles north on the port side. The ship will NOT pass the Statue on the way to sea. The Manhattan skyline will be 3 to 4 miles away (further north). You will not pass Manhattan. dorito6778 Posted June 4, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted June 4, 2015 we did get to go to a sail away party on a helipad on the Allure of the Seas, but we were staying in a suite that time. it was nothing special other than a free glass of champagne and great views (of San Juan)
CruisingChick Posted June 4, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 4, 2015 Helipad is not high up and you want to be up on top deck when you go under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
