Trying to type an itinerary for family and friends for for Alaska land tour and cruise, is there a time change somewhere on the cruise? Sailing between Seward and Vancouver....

Most of Alaska is in the Alaska Time Zone, however, a portion of the Aleutian Islands that is west of 169 degrees 30 minutes west longitude observes the Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time Zone.

Most of the itinerary will be on Alaska time (which is GMT-9, or 1 hour behind Pacific time). The night before sailing into Vancouver (or Victoria, if this itinerary stops in Victoria), you'll set the clocks 1 hour ahead, since British Columbia is on Pacific time.

Yes... most of the Alaska segment is very restful until you get to Canada...

  • what time is that last breakfast?
  • what time you want me packed?
  • what time you want me out of my room?
  • you want a time zone change on top of that????

You might need a few full days in Vancouver to recover.

I think that Putterdude is mixing up daylight saving time and std time.

Perhaps he thought that there was no need for daylight saving time in AK.:)

In the summer most all of AK is on ADT, in the winter AST.

Vancouver is on PDT and PST so you will adjust your clocks when you fly into Anchorage for ADT and then adjust them again the night before you reach Vancouver.

People cruising RT out of Seattle usually reach their first port on day2 so the set back an hour occurs on the second night - the switch back occurs after the last AK port and before Victoria.

No, thanks I do know the difference between standard time and daylight savings time. I did error in my first post but was looking for confirmation re daylight savings time in Alaska.:) it's very funny but I have no recollection of changing my watch on an Alaska cruise, however my recollection was incorrect.
