So I get off the ship on my own in Belize. Where can I go to snorkel, see a lot of colorful fish, eat and drink and have a nice beach without paying excursion prices?

I don't know of any beaches that are close to port. I honestly believe that you need to take a tour.

We did the cave thing in Belize, but my brother-in-law and his wife booked a snorkel tour at the tender dock for $40 @. They said that it was great and the skipper took them back to the ship when their tour was over. They didn't even have to tender back.

YOu can't. It's not that great from the beach. If you go to Goff's Caye, you are put out in deep water. THere is no where to stand. I have been snorkeling many times. The boat was not that great. Save the money and take a taxi to Channakaab in Cozumel.
