Mrsg324 Posted June 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2015 We got an offer in the mail over the weekend for one of the San Juan 10 or 11 night cruises. Inside cabin 150 with 150 OBC. Booked it yesterday! Total with port charges was only 390 for 2 people and we get 150 of that back! Never thought I'd see one of those since we don't really gamble much. Can't wait! audcc77 Posted June 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Yay :D for you!! Congrats! Would you mind me asking whether you already had an existing cruise reservation? I'm curious b/c I don't think I ever will get one b/c I book them too far out. I get off a cruise & book another one to get the early saver pricing. Agree, feel completely the same way you do....but there have been many who have said they "just got off a cruise" or "have several others booked" in the past that have received these free offers too! Can't quite figure out the rationale. We have for the most part been cruising on competitor lines....BUT....did book the new ship, the Vista, for wayyyy out in Feb 2017.....received NADA from CCL in between when we had NO CCL cruises booked. Just wondering the same thing....hmmmm :confused:

I'm curious b/c I don't think I ever will get one b/c I book them too far out. I get off a cruise & book another one to get the early saver pricing. Got off a cruise in January 2015. Two weeks later book a B2B for January 2016. In march got a casino offer. Just got off the first of those we booked ( May 31 - June 6) for a balcony on deck 7 for $110 p/p for a total of 550 with taxes and port fees. Am also leaving on the second one we booked on July 11th for $120 p/p for a total of $650 for 2 including taxes and port fees. So, booking in 10 months in advance (2 cruises) didn't seem to have any impact on getting reduced rate cruises.

I just received this offer in early May and booked 3 sailings, including an 8-night southern Caribbean for $193 (with $100 obc). I had no cruises booked with Carnival prior to the offer. And I made platinum on my Legend sailing in 2013 so I don't think that was a factor either. I'd say on an overall average, I spend about 1.5 hours a day in the casino. No slots whatsoever, just table games.
audcc77 Posted June 10, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Well - that's great to hear! :) This gives me hope b/c I kind of just gave up, thinking I'd ever get tapped by the free cruise fairy b/c I have 2 already booked. I think these will be cruise # 11 & 12 on CCL so I also figured they'd never throw a free one my way if they already have me as a customer. Tutontow Posted June 10, 2015 #16 Share Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) I do gamble enough. I'm in there ever single night. Unfortunately, probably not enough in the eyes of CCL. I was told from Michael at the players club that if you lose $1500.00 on a cruise you will receive a free inside cabin and a drink card for that cruise. My wife and I play nothing but blackjack and only one of us buys in or cashes out to get the most bang for our buck towards that $1500.00 mark. So far that has been the case with us. Five free cabins in less than a year. On the couple of cruise when we left winners we did not receive a free cabin. I will tell you on one of them we won the first night and stayed up over 2K for the entire cruise. We played like crazy and tipped like crazy and yet no free cabin. So it sounds like Michael was right. I will say what is so great about the free cabin offers is you can upgrade to a grand suite for $700.00 total for the two in the cabin and if the captains suite is available that falls into the same category as the G.S. One last thing, it is not a free cruise, it is a free cabin. There is still port taxes, tips and insurance to buy. Certainly dont sound free to me  It is when you spend $1500.00 doing something you enjoy doing. I will gamble the way I do no matter what so a "free" anything is just icing on the cake. Not to mention many, many free drinks in the casino. Quite honestly $1500.00 is less than we budget per day. To us it is no different than going offshore fishing for a day and spending the same king of money or going to Disney for a week and spending the same kind of money. Gambling is what we enjoy doing. Disney and my charter captain have never offered me a free anything. Edited June 10, 2015 by Tutontow

PKJenn Posted June 11, 2015 #25 Share Posted June 11, 2015 I received a letter yesterday. Booked a cabin for 150 with on board credit of 150. I definitely don't spend 1500.00 at the casino. I spend a little and win a little each night. So excited to be going on Sunshine for 10 nights.
