I just returned home from a seven cruise on the NCL GEM. I played every day/evening for a minimum of four hours per day. My minimum bet was fifty dollars, and often much more. I played the table games, blackjack, craps, and pai gow poker. Yesterday, I contacted CAS and was advised that they only had me down for $900. in play for the total cruise. I actually lost over 3K.

They told me that I just barely qualified for a 10 % discount on my next NCL cruise. Is anyone else experiencing similar problems with the CAS program?

My play and losses are never tracked correctly in NCL casinos. The only points that show up even close to what I've bet, are slot points (when the card is inserted and accepted in a machine). I have a battle each time....and now I think I'll ask as I leave a table each night what the host has as my play/loss (never a win!) record. One day, I played for 4 hours, averaging $60/bet at blackjack, and had 90 points at the end of it. Minimum needed to get a future cruise discount (like your 10%) is 2500 points.

How many point did you actually earn. Your points will give you a better idea of how well they were tracking you.

 

I had a similar experience on the Gem recently. I was on a 10 day cruise and the way I played I should have earned over 16000 points. At the end of the cruise I only earned 4700 points. The reason I say the way I played is because on my previous 3 cruises(2 on the Gem) I had earned over 13000 points each time with smaller bets.

 

I will not drop anymore names, but there is a floor person on the Gem who really does not give the points the way he should. Example I was playing blackjack at $300 per hand. I then switched to 2 hands at $300 each and he told me that it would only count as one bet because I was playing alone at the table. I thought he was joking, but he was not. I would ask what he had me down for as and ave bet and it would always be way low, sometimes less than half. Example, I bought in for $2000 at a $100 table. My style is to progress my bets up to the table max if I get hot. After an hour and a half of play, I asked him for my ave and he said that it was $130(it was actually between $450-$500). I knew then that I was not going to get many points on this cruise. I play to win, not for points. My points though are associated with my ave bet and time played, which in turn gets me future comped rooms. I should have been comped suites on my upcoming cruises, but instead was only comped mini's.

I believe that I know who you mean. He is oblivious to what is going on.

Harry has always been good as far as staying on top of things. I will find out next week.

This happens from time to time in land based casinos.

 

Seems to happen more often at sea.

 

Your play/ratings are totally at the mercy of the pit boss and what he/she writes down. Apparently, they were not paying much attention to you.

 

About the only way to stay on top is to ASK what you were rated at when you get up. Then take it up with the casino mgr after that.
