Everything Getaway

Hoping to get as much information on everything Getaway. Any tips or must do/see/eat?

This will be my third cruise and first with NCL. What are some differences?

Is there a movie theater?

What else should I know?

Thanks for any information?

There is no movie theater, but there are usually movies shown at various times in either the main theater, atrium, or outdoors in the evening at H20. Just check your daily program for listings and locations.

Although I have not sailed extensively on other lines (just one each on Princess and HAL), I have had a much better experience on NCL than the other two, even though the others are billed as more "upscale." I like the more relaxed vibe of NCL and the freestyle dining concept. Also, the megaships - like Breakaway and Getaway - have great childrens activities and programming, which is important to me since I travel with my dd. Even the non-kid entertainment appeals to her far more than on other ships.

Either go to the garden cafe, or for $5 you can have pizza delivered anywhere on the ship.

I think they've changed the delivery pizza. It is now room service only (not anywhere on ship) and carries the $7.95 convenience charge for using room service.

So I can't just pick up the pizza? I have to pay? That's ridiculous. What about the buffet? Pizza there?

Yes, of course you can pick up pizza in the buffet at no cost. My comment related to the $5 deliver anywhere 24 hours pizza, which is now room service only.

I have been on 30 cruises and just came back from Getaway. It's not for me, they nickel and dime you for everything. You have to make too many plans ahead of time to see a show or dinner. You don't have to do that with other lines. You want shrimp cocktail or a good steak you pay. Atrium is a joke. pizza yes they have it at the very limited buffet. They can not make it fast enough so it's pretty good. 2nd NCL cruise NCL is just not for me. Other cruise lines are dropping the dress up code to casual. $7.95 charge for pizza in cabin. Enjoy

The fact that there's so many pay for restaurants does make me a bit nervous. Is the mdr food good? And does anyone have any menus?

We sailed Getaway last July, and enjoyed it enough we are on it again in 10 days. We always eat Tappenaki 1 night and Cagney's 1 night, but most others dinners and most breakfasts we eat in MDRs, and they are pretty good. Honestly if a person can't find good food with out paying on the ship, I'd say they are a food snob!

Exactly! We eat in two specialty restaurants per cruise since we are now Platinum and they are free. Other than that, we love the MDRs. Also on the Getaway, we really enjoy the Flamingo Grill on the deck above the buffet. We have been on the Getaway twice and will be going again in August.
