Just back from Liberty 6/4/15-6/13/15

Recommended Posts

I did not use the laundry service but my brother in law did. He said it was $30.00 for the first bag and $15.00 for a second bag. I'm not sure about the size of the bag. Maybe someone else will know and chime in.

I was on the same sailing

I brought one home. 23 by 14 inches, give or take a nickel.

The internet wasn't bad (slow of course) but seemed to grind to a stop in late afternoon, I imagine that was the peak period.

There are no freestyle Coke machines on the Liberty.

Evian was the in-room minibar bottled water. I saw people using their beverage plans to get bottles of Crystal Geyser.

The Liberty is coming to Galveston in November and replacing the Navigator. We cruised on the Navigator this winter and were very disappointed with the Navigator because of smoking that was allowed in many areas inside the ship. This caused lots of smoke and smoke smell to be found throughout the ship especially on the main concourse. How did you find the smoking and its penetration throughout the ship? Thanks

I was pleasantly surprised that the casino wasn't smokier. I think they have good ventilation and they also had some kind of room deodorizer as well. I am not saying it didn't smell, but was almost tolerable for me, and I really don't like smokey rooms.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I'm sorry I didn't get to say good-bye to you. We weren't able to make it to the diamond lounge the last day due to packing and dealing with guest services. We really enjoyed meeting you and Rory. Both of you made the diamond lounge so much fun. Enjoy your future cruises! Ron and Gail from Ohio

Thanks so much! So far, we know our child wants to do the zip line in Labadee and we are going to do Horseshoe in Bermuda and maybe snorkel there. We are considering the yacht race in St. Maarten, but also want to have time for a beach visit. Might try the Flowrider, too.

Could you list the menu order? Not sure if we want to do MDR every night until we know what is offered.

Did you use a drink package, and if so, do you feel it was worth it? We don't think it is a saver for us, but not sure.

We had the drink package: my husband, my 23-year old son, and me. It was definitely worth it for us. It really depends on how much you drink, or plan to drink. Practically every time I saw my son he had a drink in his hand! :) I probably drank more than if I hadn't had the package. It was nice too because if I didn't like a drink I tried, I didn't mind not finishing it. I would just get something else. I didn't feel like it was as much a waste.

Have fun.

Thank you so much!

Also, you only need a BC and DL for this cruise, no passport, right?

We were on this sailing as well. There were six of us. Three of us have passports. Three of us used BC and DL.

Barbon 2, we have been on the Liberty before (and all of the other Freedom Class ships) and are excited to be on her again next spring.

They do not have a stand alone Starbucks, but you can get Starbucks coffee at the Cafe Latitude on the Promenade.

Some one asked about Orient Beach earlier. We did a tour with Bernard's when we were on Freedom a year ago. Loved it!!! Orient Beach makes many of the lists of beaches to see. Please be aware that St. Martin is Dutch and French. Orient Beach is on the French side of the island. You will drive next to the clothing optional area to get to where you will be dropped off. Where you are dropped is not "clothing optional" but being French, it was rather topless. Our son was 15. He handled the entire thing very well. We warned him ahead of time. His only comment was there should be an upper age limit on who can go topless :D

Which day was the champagne brunch? When could you make reservations, and was it a buffet or served brunch?

.

The brunch was the last 2 sea days. We went on the last day. We made the reservation the day before the brunch. The food was set up as a buffet. The waiters came around and offered you more champagne or mimosa, coffee or tea.

Loralie

The Portofino galley tour and brunch was also offered on Day 4, as that's when we did it. Once on board, just call or stop in Portofino to inquire and make the reservation. We noticed it in a separate flyer within the compass and called to make the reservation. I believe the tour started at 11:00 a.m., with brunch to follow. The meal is buffet.

You may be right, but with them taking out the night club, adding staterooms to the front of the ship and the "Oasis" update I am presuming that the "Oasis" update means Freestyle machines will be added as part of that.

I also thought that would be the case with Navigator's dry dock, but we're still waiting for Freestyle machines there.

How was Sorrentos (deck 5)? I've read that is it not very good, at least for the pizza.

I'm glad to hear there is a Diamond Lounge. Did it have the cappuccino machine?

We all enjoyed it. My husband especially liked the calzones. Since the pizzas were pretty small and it was fairly busy, the pizza was always fresh. I will add that we are not super picky or negative. I have read other posts that indicate a different experience.

And, of course, it was fun to go there because it was "free!" 😃

The Diamond Lounge did have the cappuccino machine. The first time we popped in, it was broken. We didn't go there there every day, but the next we were there it seemed to be fixed.

The DL machine was broken off and on during our May 5 night as well.
