Single Cruiser Posted June 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2015 Quick question. Meyer Werft confirmed a 4th quantum for Spring 2019 at the Papenburg yard. They confirmed a while back a 4th Norwegian breakaway plus class Autumn 2019. They've just announced the carnival order with the two at Papenburg to be built 2019 and 2020. They have no ship being built Autumn 2018 so will they bring forward the quantum class ship?
fred30 Posted June 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2015 That's 3 years away they still have time to log in more orders. Meyer Werft can build ships pretty fast especially if it's a previous build. Also, the cruise lines also may not want their ships delivered earlier than currently scheduled but needed to guarantee the time slot.
Single Cruiser Posted June 17, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted June 17, 2015 So they build one every 6 months. Current Papenburg order book is Autumn 2015 Norwegian Escape, Spring 2016 Ovation of the seas, Autumn 2016 Star Genting, Spring 2017 Norwegian Bliss, Autumn 2017 2nd star Genting ship, Spring 2018 Norwegian Breakaway plus 1, Autumn 2018 <spare>, Spring 2019 4th Quantum, Autumn 2019 Norwegian Breakaway plus 2. Now they are saying an Aida ship in 2019 and 2020 so something has to give in 2019. The press release for the 4th quantum says subject to finance so maybe Royal have dropped it? DEIx15x8 Posted June 18, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2015 I'm going to guess it's incorrect. All of the english press releases that I have seen state 4 ships delivered from Meyer Werft (2 in Papenburg for Aida and 2 for an unknown line in Turku) between 2019 and 2022. Only the German press releases are stating 2019 and 2020. We've seen inaccurate details before with Meyer and Royal Caribbean each releasing press releases about Ovation that listed her delivery as 6 months apart so it's certainly not knew for things to be wrong. Royal Caribbean is still listing Ovation as arriving in Fall 2016 even though Meyer Werft says they are delivering in Spring 2016 and Royal Caribbean is even selling cruises on her for before they claim she sets sail.
