This is where many of the trivia contests were held as well as Matt Yee Adult Sing Along Show. Being the first night of the show, most of the people were not with the sing along portion, so when people messed up, everyone would raise their glasses, even virtual glasses, and he would say:

Matt Yee: Say Oye!

Crowd: Oye!

Matt: Say Oye! Oye!

Crowd: Oye! Oye!

Matt: Say Oye! Oye! Oye!

Crowd: Oye! Oye! Oye!

Matt (Drinks his drink) Mmmmmmmmmmm

Crowd: (Drinks their drinks) Mmmmmmmmmmm

He asked people where they were from and he would sing a classic song with twisted and funny lyrics about that state. New York was held off until last and he got everyone into a chorus line and kicked their legs out left and right. Loads of fun and very funny. But again I am easily entertained.

Wanna See?

Thanks for taking the time to do this. It's bringing back fond memories. Our first Royal cruise was also on Liberty several years ago. What a beautiful ship and such great memories. Thanks again, and I'm following along. Can't wait to see the wonderful pics and read of your adventure.

Since we are here, do you mind if we since in one these comfy seats and talk about the Platinum entertainment?

No? Good. Here we go.

The first show we saw was Jason Bishop, Illusionist. I thought he did an incredible show and was extremely funny. A couple of the illusions he performed were the Metamorphosis illusion and another illusion where he took a small maybe foot and a half square box and opened it up into a rectangular box. His assistant then got into the box and then he refolded the box into its original size. He then put 3 swords through the box, removed the swords and reopened the box to that rectangular size. He assistant amazingly stepped out unharmed. Simply incredible. If you to a web search for Jason Bishop magic and click videos, his demo reel shows the the box illusion, but it does not do it justice. The illusion is simply amazing live.

He also performed close up magic using a table and a Go-Pro which projected his act onto a big screen for all the theater to see. He took a sprite can and crushed it slightly to show that it was open and empty then putting the can opening close to the camera, waved his finger across the opening and it became resealed. He then put the resealed can next to his microphone and opened it. There was the distinctive popping sound of a new soda and he poured out an entire soda onto the glass on the table. Simply unbelievable.

The next show we saw was Greg London, Musical Impressionist. Again, I was very entertained. He sang like Elton John, Rod Stewart, Johnny Cash and Elvis. At one point, he came out dressed like Ozzy Osborne and then performed a song with as Kermit the Frog. I found his impressions very spot on and his energy level was amazing. During the beginning, people seemed to not know what to make of this act as he worked very hard to get people clapping and singing, but Greg took a moment between songs to be perfectly honest that he loved what he did and was there to simply entertain and always give the best performance possible. From that point on, it seems the audience was more receptive and ending up having a very good time.

He allowed us to take all the pictures and videos we wanted and I ended up with a few good photos of his performance.

I believe after Greg London was the Love and Marriage Game in the Platinum Theater. There were three couples chosen. One young couple only married about a year then the oldest married couple married 64 years. The middle couple was chosen by auditioning several volunteering couples that had to act like Tarzan and Jane. Wow! Glad I brought a napkin so I could wipe the tears of laughter from my eyes. During the game show, Bob and Helen, the couple married for 64 years, kept getting question after question right to the increased enthusiastic cheers, woots and hollers of the audience.

One of the last questions really stands out as hilarious. The question was asked to the men … “You have just finished a shower and put on a towel. As you were walking to the bedroom, a gust of wind blew off your towel and you now stand before your wife completely naked. The ocean creature do you think your wife compare you to:

A. A great white shark, virile, powerful and without fear

B. A cod fish (that needs no further explanation)

Or C. A shrimp (definitely needs no explanation)

The young man choose the great white, while the middle married man choose a cod fish. Bob also choose the great white.

The women were brought out and asked the same exact question. Well, the young man’s wife chose the cod fish. Hilarity ensued because of Cruise Director Luke’s reaction along with the audience. The middle man’s wife chose (pause for dramatic effect)…………… the shrimp. Even more hilarity ensued. Then we come to Helen, I remember her exact words “Well, he better had chosen great white!” The theater erupted with thunderous applause and laughter. Needless to say, those two were rock stars for the rest of the cruise.

Savannah Jack played one night and we heard it was a fantastic show but Tanya and I opted for a quiet night swim and some time in the jazuzzi. We saw Klepton and his wife there who seemed to have the same idea. Very Relaxing.

Tanya did not want to see Saturday Night Fever, so I opted to head out alone to a 9pm showing as she relaxed in the room. I arrived about 20 minutes before the show started, yet it was still a packed house. I ended up watching the show from the very back of the upper level leaning on a bar area. The songs were very well sung, the sets were great and the actors were giving everything to their performances. But maybe broadway shows not not my thing because it was not a favorite show of the cruise.

Did I mention they showed 3D movies in this theater during sea days? We saw Guardians of the Galaxy, Home and X-Men: Days of Future past. And being a comic book movie fan, that suited me just fine.

The Las Vegas Tenors played near the end of the cruise. They were three extremely talented gentlemen with amazing vocal ranges. They sang a variety of songs from Mo-town, a melody of 50s and 60s “boy bands” to a mesh of You Lift Me Up and an Operatic Aria then ending with a wonderful rendition of Nessum Dorma. They did such a fantastic joke with the Nessum Dorma that Tanya wanted to hear more of that kind of thing from them. They did allow us to take pictures and video as long as we promised to post it on their facebook page. My seating area was not optimal for photos unfortunately.

The Farwell Show featured a comedy juggling team called Wild and Dave. If I had been near an aisle, I would have been rolling in it. Hats off to their young “volunteer” Jack too. I put that in parenthesis because when they were asking for volunteers, they just walked up to the boy and carried him onto the stage by both arms and both legs. As Dave prepped to juggle 2 bowling balls, they had Jack lie on the stage and said they were going to juggle them over him. As a joke, Dave dropped one of the bowling balls one the stage and that sent Jack running back to his seat. They tried to coax Jack back by offering him a dollar, explaining to him that it was a joke and Dave did not drop the ball on purpose, but Jack just crossed his arms and shook his head no. They kept saying they really needed him and offering a cool $5 did the trick. Once Jack was back on stage, Jack laid down closest to Dave (the one who was going to juggle the bowling balls) and Wild laid down next to Jack but was farther way from Dave. Well, Jack couldn’t have that so he got up and laid down on the other side of Wild to that he was the farthest away from Dave. Even Wild and Dave were in stiches. Pure comedy gold. By the time they were done with their act, they said they were taking Jack on the road with them. With massive applause and laughter, the whole theater agreed.

And with that, let us move on and continue with the tour.

To get to get to deck 3, we need to go back through Schooner Bar and the Casino and down the stairs at Boleros. Look here … you can see three different decks from this view. The deck 5 rainbow bridge at the Promenade above us, deck 4 with Boleros right here and the deck 3 Art Gallery below us.

Again, thanks for all the encouragement! And sorry if I don't reply a lot, but I am posting my rear end off. I have over 400 pics (still going through to pick out the best for you all) and I have 9 pages of prewritten commentary ... and I am just getting started.

This review .... may take awhile. :p

I've got nothing but time. I don't get to cruise Liberty again for 500 days! Your review is bringing back a lot of memories though. Great job :D

As we go past the RCTV area, we arrive at the On Air Club where all the karaoke is performed. I did not get a chance to see any since night time was alive with so many entertainment choices. Sleep in and stay up late. That is my advice. (Unless your body happens to have a natural alarm clock that gets you up at 530am like mine).

The next area is the one that most people will look at you with surprise when you tell them it’s on a cruise ship ……. The ice rink.

Rink.jpg

This is also where the ice show Encore! A Ice Spectacular was held. And it was fan-flippin-tastic! It had amazing music, spectacular costumes, incredible choreography, and the outright energy of the performers was top notch. Ok, I will say it … no shame in it … the show brought little happy tears to my eyes. If you go …. Ok, scratch that …. When you go, do not arrive 10-15 minutes early thinking you will still be able to get a good seat. Get there at least 30-45 minutes early. The venue is very small and not all seats are good seats. Tanya and I got one seat on the top row at a bar area where she sat and I stood behind her. Not the best seats, but we still had a fantastic time.

Hmm, where to now … How about deck 5 Promonade?

As we go the upstairs from the Schooner Bar, we find ourselves with Sorrento’s Pizza on your left.

I really did'nt mind the pizza here. Tanya liked it too. And many a late night, I found found myself hoofing it down to Sorrentos to grab a couple of slices of cheese for my better half. Was it the best? No. But it did do that really cool thing that food does ... makes hungry tummies go quiet.

Let's peek into the General Store and I'll show you something ....

This is the extent of the ships CVS or Walgreens. If you don't see it here then make sure you bring it with you. And this stuff is expensive too. The rest of the General Store stocks booze and snacks and not much else.

About midway through the Promenade, we come across the Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Parlor. Where Tanya splurged on some cookies and cream ice cream.

At the The Cupcake Cupboard, Tanya enjoyed several Red Velvet cupcakes. She has quite the sweet tooth.

Here is The Promonade Café.

Cafe%201.jpg

And here is the delightful, delicious and delectable …….. Cheesecake Lollipops. Luscious white chocolate with a soft and creamy cheesecake center with the slight hint of a graham cracker crust. Look at that picture. Do I really need to say more?

Here is a tip. Not too fond of formal night, but still want to see what is happening without being in the mist of all the crowds and photographers and all that? See those protrusions near the elevators on the 6th, 7th and 8th decks? That is a perfect place to have your drink and feel like Statler and Waldorf from the Muppets.

And here is the view on formal night.

Come on over here, tilt your head back and check this out ....

Every surface on the ship seems to be reflective or mirrored. Every wall, floor, ceiling, even the bannisters make the light seem to dance across these surfaces making the ship sparkle. It's very impressive.

Wow, the air conditioning really works well here. Let’s go out to Desk 4, get warm and check out the ocean view for a bit.

How can something so simple, the sounds of the waves as you travel through the ocean, bring so much peace and relaxation. Mind if we pause for a bit and listen?

You know what? You can actually go out to the very front of the ship on that helicopter area. Already knew that? Well, sorry, but this is all new to me. Let’s go!
