sarah&steve Posted June 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2015 New to this Cruising life style. We are on the Britannia in August. Do you save any money by booking trips on the Cruise organiser before hand, compared to booking them on board? Thanks in advance for any advise. tartanexile81 Posted June 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2015 The best way to save money is to do your own thing. There's lots of advice on these threads on what to do in each port using local transport. I'd be happy to help with advice for Edinburgh.
Riskit Posted June 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2015 Sarah&steve, I agree with tartanexile81. There are lots of destinations where doing your own thing really works, especially if you do your homework before you travel to decide what it is you want to see and o. Hop on hop off bus tours are an excellent way to see most cities. Save your money for the one or two trips where you really do want the insight of a local guide to explain the history etc. or for those trips where you can skip the queues to get in by being part of an organised group (like the Sergio familia in Barcelona). Mark-Sheffield Posted June 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2015 We normally book cruises beforehand to ensure we have a place with the cruise company, there are popular trips that do get booked up quite quickly. Having said that, we have found a company recommended by our travel agent which is independent to the cruise companys. Its called cruising excursions.com. We have looked at the prices and there are very good in comparsion. I would like to know if members on here have used this company before ?
