familyfuncruise Posted June 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2015 How much does one need to spend to get free drinks?
Barbluvstocruz Posted June 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2015 On table games I find that it's not so much spending, but playtime and making nice with the dealers and pit bosses. We were on the Pride last week and by day 3 got to know everyone at the BJ tables and were offered drinks fairly consistently. They gave hubby a "Drinks on Us" card on the 5th day. He doesn't drink so it didn't do much good. We were betting 15-25 a hand. Have fun! :D
vwrestler171 Posted June 26, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) 1500 slot points is the threshold for free drinks, so however much it takes you to get that many points. I think I read somewhere that $7 played = 1 pt, but that might've been another casino. Not sure about the table games though. jmcancruise Posted June 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Doesn't that mean that you would have to play over $10,000 to get free drinks??? Is that possible?
bradm77 Posted June 26, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Doesn't that mean that you would have to play over $10,000 to get free drinks??? Is that possible? No, you don't have to spend THAT much. Our experience has always been: Play any table game for an hour or more and be friendly and pit bosses will buy you the occasional drink Accumulate 1500 pts on a 7 day (or 1000 on a 4-5 day) and get the drinks card spinning the slots builds up points MUCH faster than table games My wife and I have a $100 per person, per day casino limit on most of our cruises. She is luckier than me, so she usually ends up with the card by day 3 or 4 of a 5 day and by day 5 of a 7 day. The more you WIN, the more you SPIN. The more you SPIN, the sooner you get the drinks card. Of course, YMMV.

JuanBillion Posted June 26, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) At slots, $2.50 coin in = 1 point. At video poker, $5.00 coin in = 1 point. Table games is up to casino manager / pit bosses discretion. On average, they like to see $15-$25 a hand average over a certain period of time. Tipping dealers does help. On my last cruise, I played $5 Three Card Poker and Let It Ride. I hit a couple of big three card bonuses early on the first night and started putting up $1 on the three card bonus each hand for the dealers. Dealers were easily getting $30 an hour. By the third day morning, I had the Drinks on Us card. (This was the San Juan Valor cruise, so it was really only a few hours of play as the casino does not open until 10PM the first night and 5PM the second night.) Mike C Posted June 26, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 26, 2015 On slots it takes $2.50 in play for each point and for video poker it's $5.00 per point. For 1,500 points then it takes $ 3750 coin in for slots and $ 7500 for video poker Good luck, Mike

magiccruiser1 Posted June 26, 2015 #14 Share Posted June 26, 2015 1500 points in a casino does not mean that the dollar amount equivolent has to come out of your pocket. If you play your winnings, those dollars count as well. With good luck you could play $50 out of pocket for several hours and build up a few hundred points. I go to the local casino near me and bring never more than $60 and play for hours. One time, that money lasted me 7 hours and I left ahead several hundred. SadieN Posted June 26, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 26, 2015 People actually put $3750 into a slot machine? Insane in my book Only if you're not winning. Many times its playing on 'their' money. That is, the money you've won on previous spins.

path145 Posted June 27, 2015 #17 Share Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) Our next cruise is 15 days long. Does anyone know if we will still have to get 1500 points to get the Drinks On Us or will it be more because it's a longer cruise? Thanks! lido deck larry Posted June 27, 2015 #21 Share Posted June 27, 2015 I doubt anyone plays for free drinks. Sent from my SM-G386T using Tapatalk Many people will gamble more to reach the level of points required to get the free drinks. It might be a perk but it is a great way for the casino to take more of your money.
birdlgs Posted June 28, 2015 #25 Share Posted June 28, 2015 oh I know FFS  Why is there so much anger toward gamblers? I would gamble even without the "comps". But just because we get FREE cruises (which just means the money I would pay for the cruise I spend in the casino!), comped dinners in the steakhouse, free wine, invited on the Premier Cruises where we win prizes ($$), goodies delivered to our room AND the FREE drink card upon embarkation...why is there so much animosity? You too can gamble! :)
