So, why does Carnival list certain excursions as featured?

 

Do they have the greatest profit margin for Carnival?

 

Are they the excursions most likely to lead to high guest satisfaction with Carnival?

 

Are they the ones they fear will be undersold otherwise?

 

Is it the IT department's version of spin the bottle?

There are some excursion companies that have an exclusive contract with Carnival. So for those that like to price compare, if you see a certain excursion offered through Carnival, you may not be able to book it independently in an attempt to save a few dollars.
