Rare MicCanberra Posted June 28, 2015 #26 Share Posted June 28, 2015 Has it been confirmed that it was mechanical failure or pilot error.

Rare MicCanberra Posted June 28, 2015 #28 Share Posted June 28, 2015 I don't think they have released anything yet. I think it may take a while, I just read an article saying they will piece the plane back together to see if they can determine anything.

Iamthesea Posted June 28, 2015 #30 Share Posted June 28, 2015 Hard to believe that this has happened again. A similar accident happened almost exactly 2 years ago in another part of Alaska (near Anchorage) and two families from my hometown area were killed. A family of 5 and a family of 4, all traveling together. One member was a childhood friend of my brothers. The pilot also died during the take-off crash. :( My DH and I were set to take an Alaskan cruise a couple of months after that accident. Because of it, and other air accidents that we had previously heard about taken place in Alaska, we decided to stay away from excursions featuring helicopters and floats planes. Prayers to all families!
Di13 Posted June 28, 2015 #31 Share Posted June 28, 2015 I was totally shocked to read this very sad news, my thoughts are with the family. We have only just returned from my dream trip of a lifetime to Alaska, we did the floatplane trip in Ketchikan, I am an extremely nervous flyer but as this was a trip of a lifetime thought I just had to do the floatplane trip, we booked independently with Michelle of island wings, it was the most amazing trip I have ever done. Am hoping that this tragic accident doesn't affect the rest of the season, although I am sure it is bound to. Just left me feeling so cold, as we were parked next to the westerdam last week. Rare MicCanberra Posted June 28, 2015 #32 Share Posted June 28, 2015 (edited) I imagine a lot of people would be cancelling their shore excursion flights because of this accident. Edited June 28, 2015 by MicCanberra
