eponym Posted June 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2015 There seems to be a genuine lack of board participation for Carnival Miracle 7 day cruises out of Long Beach. We booked one coming up in July, and find only a few people talking about it, or talking about organizing anything. Seems to be much different that when we have cruised from Texas or Florida. Are we overlooking something?
PekingeseLady Posted June 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2015 You need to find and join your roll call. And also look on the Carnival Forum. Also the Mexican Riviera forum has some activity. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=331 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=215 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=203 Hope this helps. :D Cheers! SadieN Posted June 26, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) Nature of the beast. Many of us have sailed together (end up on the same cruise) and/or done variations of this itin many, many times and have an have an idea of what we are going to do. We find the unusual itins have the most traffic. The 3 & 4 day cruises are even worse, those rarely go over 20 posts. Our Jan 31 is a 13 day and our Oct 3 cruise is a casino cruise with an overnight in PV. Lots of chatter on those, more on the Jan cruise. The Nov 7 cruise (Cabo, PV, Mazatlan) is gasping for breath, lol. Edited June 26, 2015 by SadieN
Cruisin' Chick Posted June 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Something to think about: Not everyone on your cruise will have ever heard of Cruise Critic. And even the ones who have, may not be interested in joining in on a forum. There many even be many lurkers who never post (keep checking the number of "views," which may bear this out). Back when I first joined in 2004. The roll call I had started finally did get going at some point. But there was another on Princess that was going to sail about the same time, and it was very quiet. I felt sorry for the OP of that one so I posted many times on it (she knew I was on a different ship) to keep her "company."

Now if we lived in Florida, the 3 or 4 day ones seem to change islands and ports much more frequently. We just don't have that ability off Los Angeles... The 13 day in Jan does sound interesting! I will look into it. Edited June 27, 2015 by eponym

tncap Posted July 10, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Most roll calls for cruises have moved to social media. They cannot be promoted on Cruise Critic due to the Terms of Service.
Cruisin' Chick Posted July 10, 2015 #11 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Most roll calls for cruises have moved to social media. They cannot be promoted on Cruise Critic due to the Terms of Service. Princess used to have a roll call section on that social media site, but when I looked at it for a cruise a few years ago, I realized that anyone could see who's posting on a roll call. Didn't make me feel too secure in regards to privacy. I even posted that very concern on the main wall there. At some point, Princess stopped having roll calls there (unless they brought them back). Going on the Miracle in October, November and January. The roll calls and 'other place' threads are both barely hanging on for the Oct and Nov cruises. Thinking about Feb. 2016.Been on many cruises but all out of FLA and to the Caribbean. How is the weather in CA this time of year? how is the ride down the coast? how are the ports? thank you in advance! It can be really rainy or not. We're supposed to get a lot of rain this winter thanks to El Nino (but they've been saying that for the past 2 years). Most likely be in the 60's in Long Beach. Warmer temps the farther south you sail. Coming back north, the water will be rougher due to the southerly current.
