Hi,

I see that wine and champagne is allowed on board. But is there a limit. I know Carnival is 2 bottles per person.

Also says there is corkage fee if consumed in any public restaurants including stateroom??

They don't mean if you uncork a bottle in your room yourself there is a charge??

Thanks

Kerri

From NCL's website:

Can I bringing alcohol on board?

All guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on board our ships. Please note that with the exception of Wine and Champagne, all guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on board our ships. If you purchase any alcohol at one of our ports-of-call or in our onboard shops, we will safely store your purchase(s) and either on the final night of the cruise or the morning of debarkation it will be available for pick up in a designated area. Wine & Champagne Policy Guests may bring bottles of wine and champagne on board. When bottles are brought on board and served or consumed in any restaurant, public room area or in their stateroom, a corkage fee will be charged according to bottle sizes noted below. 750 ml Bottle: $15.00 1,500 ml Magnum: $30.00 Wine or champagne sent directly to the ship by travel agents, friends, family, etc. or from another retail source, are subject to the same fees. Box wines are not allowed on board.

Corkage fee is not charged for the actual act of opening the bottle, but to compensate the lost sales for the venue (restaurant, cruiseline, etc).

OK.....so how will they know I am opening wine in my room

Do they check the bottles going on the ship and just charge corkage fee then?

Yes, all luggage (checked and carryon) is scanned before letting it enter the ship, there is a table for charging the corkage fee in the terminal just after the x-ray.

For checked luggage if bottles are detected, you won't get your luggage delivered to your cabin but instead you are summoned to "naughty room" where you must open your bag and present the bottles and be charged the fee then.

They won't know nor will they care where you open your wine on the ship. You will be charged a corkage fee before you board.
