toberman Posted June 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2015 I'm looking at booking a stop-over at DCA on US (AA). The airport terminal map shows US in Terminal C - but it seems to have 2 concourses. I know we would be going in/out from SYR on US Express/Shuttle and connecting both ways to a wide-body. Should we have to change concourses, can we do it without going thru security again? Also, do they have people movers or golf cart type assistance available between the two concourses? If not, what kind of distance would we have to walk? - Wife is restricted on the distance she can walk without rest so might have to include extra stop-over time if no assistance is avbl. Thanks in advance. There is a bus between both concourses, clearly signed. But you have to walk up and down stairs. IF you require- assisted transfer- be certain to allow plenty of time. I have found, going out and back through security sometimes faster. Also, the alternative transfer service is not available early in the am. Yes, you need to go to the lower level to catch the bus between concourse but there is an elevator. How long is your connection? Please note that there is a difference between a stopover and a connection. the elevator requires an escort to the buses, in the past this was not available at 6am when I've been at the airport, and appears to have limited hours. I guess, in a round-about way, I was trying to find out how long, or how far the connection would be should I have to change concourses and also, what the procedure would be. If you mean how long is the layover - it's 1+45 so probably quite doable. I don't really think we would have to change concourses since for 3 days the flights from SYR and FLL all have left from the same one. (I know that can change at any time). Don't know what gate 35X means.... suspect it's a ground entry gate used by RJs but is the only gate used by flights from SYR on these 3 days. Thanks for the help. You'll go downstairs, through the 'gate', then head outside, where you'll board a bus that will take you out to the plane. Budget Queen Posted July 2, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 2, 2015 I fly frequently from SYR as well. There are 2 planes used on this route- your gate info- is for the commuter, ground level. You do have to come upstairs here, via stair, escalator, or elevator. The shuttle bus to the other concourse- is on the other side- where you have to walk down the stairs (then back up), or get escorted as I mention above. IF you already know- you are arriving in Concourse C, you just need to confirm where you are leaving from day of travel. I just flew last week, and had 3 gate changes for a single flight- as an example. You should have enough time. I will mention, SYR flights have very high load factors.
