njdunning Posted July 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2015 OK maybe I am being dense but what is the Home Port Advisory excursion? I have tried clicking on it to see and just don't understand what it gives me.
edbro Posted July 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2015 Not sure but I'm saving up for it. I'll have to lie to meet the age requirement. Have you read the reviews?
njdunning Posted July 2, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted July 2, 2015 Ha, I didn't even notice the age. Surely that isn't for real?!?
cantthinkofanythingfun Posted July 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2015 It's a little bit out of my budget.
joepeka Posted July 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2015 If this were April 1st I would say Carnival is pulling an April Fool's joke. The reviews are pretty funny. I'm going to guess those are placeholders for each home port in case Carnival has to quickly put out any advisories for any particular port. Just a guess, of course. :o
bakersdozen12 Posted July 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) No one knows what it's for. I think it has always been a mystery. I read somewhere that someone once asked a Carnival customer service rep, and they said it was just a placeholder. Others have said its just a way to sign up for text alerts (which I don't buy because you have that option when you do your online checkin). winddawn Posted July 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 2, 2015 OK maybe I am being dense but what is the Home Port Advisory excursion? I have tried clicking on it to see and just don't understand what it gives me. This is a placeholder webpage that is filled in with real information if a situation arises where an advisory needs to be issued for passengers. Carnival's Brand Ambassador stated this about it previously: "The home port advisory is something that we put there for internal use and its not anything we actually offer the guests until such time as text alerts for delayed embarkation etc are needed"
silvercrikhix Posted July 2, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 2, 2015 The only one I have seen with info on it is for Barbados (no camouflage clothing allowed).
fuddrules Posted July 2, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 2, 2015 You have to be 99 year old to purchase it. It's an enticement to stay with Carnival until you reach that age. It does have a good review so maybe it's worth it.
Smart Arsenal Fan Posted July 2, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 2, 2015 Well I've heard the Home Port Advisory is an advisory... and this advisory is advising about home ports. But that may just be a rumor. :D
