Leper Colony Beach

Mr. Antiguan - I have rented a 4WD vehicle to explore your lovely island, and was hoping you could tell me where Leper Colony Beach is. Supposedly it's a beautiful, secluded beach that you need 4WD to get to. Many of the beaches on the island are secluded like this and the brochures say you need 4WD, which comes to my second question - just how bad are the roads? Do you need the 4WD to maneuver pot holes, ditches, etc.? or would we come across just dirt roads? Any info you have would be of great help! Thanks!

ok, you can do it for sure with a 4X4 just because the road is a long bumpy dirt road. Drive towards Jolly Harbour from St. Johns you will get to Jennings village which has a fuel station at the begining of the village. Just as you get to the end of the village, there is a chinese restuarant on the right hand side of the road......take the next right and keep going for about 1.5 miles i guess. I haven't driven there in years myself, but it is pretty nice.

Most non tourist beaches are easier to find and less difficult to get to though. That one is kinda far and bumpy. No drinks or food to get there either.

You will be alone though which is always nice.
