NOLA PreCruise Hotel

We will be cruising on Dream from NOLA and would like info about a good hotel. Are there any that offer shuttle to and from airport and cruise terminals? Any info is helpful.

The airport is not really close to the cruise port in NOLA so finding a free transfer isn't likely. If you stay at an airport hotel, you will need to make your own way to the cruise port on embarkation day or use a Carnival airport transfer. It is much better to do a transfer to a downtown NOLA hotel after you arrive, and then transfer over to the cruise port on embarkation day. The cruise port is next to the convention center area in downtown NOLA if you are searching for a hotel online.

When I fly into NOLA a day or 2 early pre-cruise, I choose either Harrah's or Hilton Riverside for a pre-cruise stay. If you like to gamble, these are great locations since the casino is at Harrah's and Hilton is across the street. Hilton tends to be a little cheaper, but if you have a Harrah's Total Rewards account (a nationwide Caesars product), you might be able to get your room comped regardless of where you earned the credits, or you can book online otherwise. Both hotels are right at the cruise port; however, since there is a restricted area between the hotels and the cruise port, you must drive to get there. Since both are extremely close to the port, you can grab a taxi to get to the cruise port and it won't cost you much (@$10 plus tip). I use New Orleans airport shuttle dot com (Go Shuttle) to get from the airport to the downtown hotel area next to the cruise port when I go in a day or two early. It is $20 per person to reach the downtown hotels next to the cruise port. You can book that online prior to your trip and then catch their Go Shuttle at the airport ground transportation area right outside baggage claim (their website offers perfect instructions when you book the transfer).

Downtown NOLA riverside by these hotels and the cruise port has plenty to offer within walking distance--gambling, aquarium, great restaurants, shopping, etc.

I hope you have a great time in NOLA and a fun cruise! NOLA is a great place to spend your your pre-cruise stay. NOLA is my favorite cruise port. I hope you have a great time extending your cruise vacation there.

Part of the fun of cruising from NOLA is staying there pre- or post-cruise. I don't believe any hotels in the Quarter/CBD/Downtown offer airport and port shuttles, and definitely not on a complimentary basis. Taxis in NOLA are plentiful and cheap.

I like the Crowne Plaza on Canal. It is right next to Bourbon Street and you can get it pretty inexpensively on Hotwire or Priceline, generally.

We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza and we liked the location on Canal and Bourbon St.. Hilton Riverside has always been my first choice but they have always been booked.
