Bear Viewing Anan Creek August 3rd early

We'll be on the Grand Princess Northbound leaving Vancouver August 1st and scheduled for Ketchikan August 3rd 06:00 AM to 02:00 PM. No excursion to Anan - which apparently is supposed to be THE best place for bear viewing in the region -seems to be available by Princess, and the local ops I called don't have any seats left for their Anan excursions for the day

We have a total of six permits for Anan for Tuesday the 3rd (of which we'll need two for ourselves, of course). We are also in talks with Jim Kosmos of Southeast Aviation who confirmed he's got a plane available for charter...

So we are looking for four more fellow cruisers (or vacationers) to share a flight with us (and with Southeast Aviation). Don't know the final cost yet, but will end up somewhere in the fourhundred plus region per capita if we fill up...

Please let us know ASAP if interested, we'll be on a road trip in Canada starting next week, so not always access to www or mail :o

Hope 2 C U, Traudl and Jochen

If you haven't already, you need to find out what other ships are in port with you, that have overlapping port times, and post this information on ALL the possible Roll Calls.

Coral Princess is in port that day from 10am-6pm so the timing probably won't work for Coral passengers. For the purpose of finding the roll call, it's the southbound cruise that departs Whittier on July 29. The roll call for that cruise has been totally dead for months, but you can give it a try.

We really wanted to do Anan, but had no luck finding an operator with permits so we are doing Traitors Cove instead.

Good luck.

There really is only a very short time where both these areas would be done on the same day. They have very different peaks. Just because, tours "may" be offered, it doesn't mean the sightings are going to be good. With these tours, I never consider unless I am there mid peak. I have been to both these areas, along with Neets Bay which has a peak overlap with both Anan and Traitors, being the second peak out of the 3 areas. Anan is #1, being early, Neets mid, Traitors is #3. So not sure how you had the choice between Anan and Traitors?
