bellemere Posted July 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2015 Looking at the Nordkapp or Polarlys for the 12 day Bergen to Bergen voyage. Which deck would be best for a cabin if there are rough seas? Thank you for your advice.
SarniaLo Posted July 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2015 I have done a trip on MS Polarlys and really enjoyed it, the decoration is very elegant and the public spaces are light and airy. For the best comfort in rough sea, the best cabins are those located low and mid-ship, so the N2 cabins on deck 3 mid-ships are good. Avoid deck 3 cabins at the rear where you can get some vibrations from the engine. Bear in mind though that most of the ship's route is in sheltered sea, between the coast and islands so the sea is usually calm for most of the time. There are some passages in open sea, which can be agitated but usually last only a couple of hours. The longest strech that can be rough is the last day of the Northbound voyage, from Honningsvag to Kirkenes, across the Barents Sea and almost 24 hours of open sea. digitl Posted July 22, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2015 Low down and midships every time! Though most of the trip is in sheltered waters, the open water segments can, as we found out, be quite lively.
