Butler service

Pardon my ignorance, but the chair hog thread has me wanting to just hang out on my deck.

If you are on the balcony of a royal suite, will butlers be able to get drinks for you, like a bahama mama or margarita, for example or do they just replenish the minibar? I would gladly leave them a nice tip if they had that service.:D

Butlers do not do drinks service. If you are in a RS or a PH you will have your spirits of choice and your mixers sodas and beers in the fridge. Butlers will also provide sliced lemons, pineapples etc at your request.

If you are in RS or PH you will also have a premium drinks package. You could order your drinks through room service but then you would pay for them.

No, they won't go to a bar and bring back a drink to your suite.

However, it's been my experience that, if you have, say, a bottle of Scotch already set up in your suite, they will - upon request - pour a glass on-the-rocks and bring it out to you.:)

I was able to improvise my favorite drink by having my choice of liguior . Instead of scotch I switched out for Baccardi rum coconut flavor, asking to have crushed ice, pinapple, half and half and maraschino cherries bought in and I had my pina colada any time I wanted it. Butler had no problem with this.

LOL!!! My beverage of choice is much easier.... Vodka on the rocks with a twist; if all else fails I will make a martini using whatever juice I have in the fridge.

I'll probably turn in that liter of scotch for another bottle of vodka.

Remember the minibar the liquor is not free, only beer wine sodas and I haven't heard the final word on Wine.

You do get your 2 bottles of booze, which you can pretty much ask for whatever your preference is.

I have had a butler take my seepass card in the past and bring me a drink, but it was on a TA and we had developed an understanding over time, I was hosting a gathering and me and 3 others were about to take our cards to get drinks at a bar to bring back, and he said please allow me and went and brought them back. I've also had success having them restock my evian in a suite with my seepass card (pre free mini bar). This was in a RS on Eclipse.

I do not think, however this is standard practice. Likely he was more looking to impress my guests as room service beverages are not covered under any package or perk.

sounds like we will have a drink at the bar and then get one to go and make some on our own with the mixers. Then again I can always do with a red stripe or stella which I believe they will stock in the minibar.

Indeed they will, they will swap pot for your favorite brands by asking. I had Blue Moon put in for all the beer I had, and had him leave a glass of orange wedges to garnish.

You really only have to be bothered with the chair hogs if you think your vacation will be ruined by not sitting around the pool all day, every day. It is frustrating to see people act like that, but it happens at any resort (land-based ones can be just as bad). There are plenty of deck chairs on the level above the pool deck. There are also ones in the far corners of the pool deck. Some days and times will be more crowded than others, of course, so you just have to consider that "prime" times may suck. That's when I head inside to the casino or a lounge or, yes, to my own balcony.

I agree, i've never not once ever not been able to find a chair at the pool. Maybe I don't get front row and center, but I always get a chair.

My 3 sisters and I book an Alcove so we have a chair on deck anytime we want one and it makes a great meeting place. The other great thing is that with The Alcove the attendant WILL get you those drinks with your beverage package.

I think that this sums up the situation perfectly.

good to hear - summit so car itinerary is port intensive so it probably wont be a problem on most days just the one sea day perhaps.

You can get room service but will probably have to get up and answer the door yourself when they ring the bell. In fact, you might have to leave the balcony door open to be able to hear the bell. Worse, if using the jacuzzi on the balcony, you'll have to hop out and leave a wet trail across the carpet. It's a hard life.

On the other hand, if you develop a good relationship with your butler and he is knocking about, maybe at the time of delivering afternoon tea and cakes, then I suspect that he/she will cheerfully hop over the side and swim ashore to fetch your favourite brand of hooch. But paging him/her to get your drinks, especially mid-afternoon when they try to get a bit of down time is definitely cooking it a bit too brown, as my old Dad used to say and the good relationship would surely suffer.

Yeah, I see this every year in Cancun. I'm always amazed at the 7am "Great Towel Migration". I've always assumed that the towels are nocturnal, then return to the poolside chairs at daybreak.

That can be done and order in the twists. I received an 8

' plate of sliced lemon and limes with saran wrap over it. Stuck it in cooler lasted 4 days. Not to go off subject but tried getting Victoria1950 as my title but other people had it. Shucks! Have great cruise!:D
