fuel surcharge

Recommended Posts

We once had a restaurant tack on a quarter for "fuel surcharge" one winter when heating costs had hit an all time high.

I know that's not what you were referring to - but you can't believe how ticked off that quarter got me. I had it removed from the bill and complained to the headquarters that it was a tacky thing to do.

Today, Chi Chi's is out of business in the Milwaukee area. I guess they really needed that quarter.

Yes, during the fuel crisis in the early 1970's, Home Lines added a small fuel surcharge to the ticket price.

Interestingly, in the 3rd Quarter Conference Call for Carnival Corporation this week, one of the analysts asked Mickey Arison if CCL was considering a fuel surcharge. He replied that one might be necessary at some point in the future if fuel costs gets totally out of sight. But, for now, one is not necessary.
