If the weather is good on our arrival to St Thomas... we would like to get to Trunk bay for the day. The cruise line sells an excursion for $50.00 but we are actually on the beach for only 1.5 hrs. If we are off the ship by 9 - 9:30 ,taxi-ferry - taxi to Trunk bay , how long could we stay on the beach , allowing enough time to get back to the ship for a 5:00 pm departure. Thanks

Hello,

If you are off the ship at 9am you would want to taxi to Red Hook. While the Charlotte Amalie ferry is closer its schedule isn't as frequent; there is a 9am ferry and an 11am ferry.

So off ship and in taxi at 9am. Head to Red Hook, that drive takes about 17-20 minutes in medium traffic. Let’s call it 30 minutes in case of traffic. You'd get to Red Hook in time to catch the 10am ferry to St. John. Ferry takes 15 minutes. You'd be at Cruz Bay looking for a taxi by say 10:20am. Cruz Bay to Trunk Bay is about 15 minutes. So on the beach by 10:40am. I'd say take the 2 or 3pm ferry back to St. Thomas. Leave Trunk Bay at least 30 minutes prior to which ever ferry you want to take. So you could get 3 or 4 hours at Trunk.

Hope that helps.
