I find a cruise I want then I look at the one before and after to see if I want to B2B

I start with a travel agent site because I can look at all cruise lines at one time -- rules don't allow me to name it. It's just as easy on the cruise lines sites.

Maybe someone else can answer your question better. :)

Thanks, I know what it is, I'm trying to figure out if there's an easier way to find one besides filtering ship by ship, month by month on the Carnival site. Is there another site that has already done all of the leg work?

I cruise with a group of family members and cruise friends that we have met on prior sailings, most of whom cannot take 2 weeks off at once to do a B2B. The way I choose is after our group has chosen the cruise we're going to do, I look at the sailing prior to that one to see if I'd want to do it.

I would not have as much fun if I stayed behind to do a B2B after my traveling crew has left for home, so I pick the week before so we can all go home together.

We are doing our first B2B very shortly. It came about because I was looking at Carabbean cruises but thought 7 days was 2 short. Plus I didn't know which was better, East or west Caribbean. Do I looked at some of the ships to see which ones alternated between East and west. Really looking forward to it.:D

We did our first b2b on the Carnival Spirit in 2009. That was only our 4 or 5th cruise so we were relative novices. We didn't even know about the procedure to be escorted off and back on the ship. Since we wanted to visit Anchorage in a rental car, we left the ship with all the disembarking pax and returned to the ship a few hours before departure.

Since then we've had 3 long TA cruises, but never another b2b.

Till now. We have a b2b2b in Nov/Dec on Carnival Freedom and another b2b on Oasis OTS in Feb 2016 and another b2b on Carnival Breeze in Nov of '16 and yet another b2b on Harmony OTS in Feb 2017. We love the longer cruises. Seven days is not enough anymore.

We will be on our first b2b in less than two weeks! Super excited. We were able to book the same room even though we didn't book the second week at the same time. We are looking forward to this new adventure. I'll be happy to share what we learned when we return!

We have our 4th b2b this November, and have also sailed a few 12 day sailings, we also find 7 days is just not enough! We also try and find alternating itineraries, Florida ports seem to work best for this. Like another poster mentioned, we try and hit up most of the shows the first week then relax more the second week, enjoying some movies under the stars or rewatching a favorite show. We also know which menu is our least favorite and then choose that night to go to the Steakhouse for dinner in week 2. We never change cabins and just love that feeling at the end of week one knowing you don't have to pack or end vacation just yet. Can't wait till we have the ability to do more than 2 weeks vacation, but that will have to wait till retirement (or winning the lottery!). I do wish there were more 10+day itineraries in the Caribbean, until then we'll have to stick to the b2b. To the OP, yes, once you go on a b2b it is hard to go back a single trip!

After doing a transatlantic last year, we are now addicted to longer cruises. We booked a B2B for next year (different cruise line). Both are 5 days, same ship.

We are going real crazy in 2017 and booked the Vista for 6 days and then a different line, different port for a 7 day. There is a day inbetween so not really a true B2B but close enough! :)

I believe I will learn to love B2Bs.

Doing our first b2b next year. DH offered (me)a balcony for our Caribbean Princess Cruise in Dec 2016 which is 6 days. I priced it out. As nice as a balcony would be, I countered with staying on the ship for an extra 6 days in an inside. :p We will be doing a repeat b2b. That's ok with me. We are coming way too far and paying way to much for air fair to justify 6 days. 12 is more like it. Now we can have a more relaxed vacation and actually see some of the ports. Also one of the ports is Roatan. I have head that it gets missed often, so hopefully my odds are good that I will see it at least 1 of the 2 times we stop there!

  • 5 weeks later...

We did our first B2B back in 2013 on the Splendor. It had alternating itineraries, which was fantastic. Unfortunately, we were only able to do the 16 day voyage because I had just graduated. Where I work now, it would be extremely difficult to get more than 1 week off, so I don't know when we'll be able to do another B2B. :( I think my favorite part of the back to back, excluding actually staying on the ship, was getting to know the crew, and the crew knowing your name too. Like another poster said too, I liked having repeat menus, so that way I didn't feel compelled to try more than one entree a day, I could just look forward to it the next sailing. And if there was a day that I felt the MDR was lacking, we could go to the steak house instead. Being on the ship that long made it a bit easier to leave at the end.

This will be only be our third ever cruise, the first with Carnival and the first B2B.

We are doing two 8 day cruises from Barcelona in August. As the cruise is so port intensive, with only one sea day this was the reasoning.

Our plan is not to leave the ship for the first 8 days. We have a better cabin, Family Harbour, deluxe ocean view and we will purchase the cheers package.

The second sailing we won't buy cheers, we have a family harbour inside cabin just across from the previous cabin, so not far to move. We plan to do all of our excursions.

Eeek excited :)

For those of you who have done B2B's before with different rooms each leg: Did you tip the cabin steward extra to move your belongings to your 2nd room assignmnet?? How much?? I don't want to be a cheapskate !! :p

I guess that depends on how many bags and hangers have to moved as well as the distance between cabins.

Starting point could be $5/bag. If you're moving aft to bow or to different decks, you ought to go higher.

I just want to go already!!! We are sailing on our first B2B on the Glory in a fabulous scenic ocean view cabin in March (yes, more than 200 days to wait) and the wait is killing me!!!!!! Anyone else planning a B2B who have stories, advice or cautionary tales to share with me?? I wish there was a B2B category on CC so I could read - read - read to help get me through the next 200+ days! :p

We've been on three or four B2B's with another one planned for early next year. 99% of any B2B "Hints, Tips or Secrets" are just common sense.

So I am assuming you are sailing from Ft. Lauderdale. We did this last year, sailed Caribbean Princess then jumped over to the Ruby Princess. We didn't park our car at the port, lots cheaper to do a park and cruise deal, or even if not wanting to stay the night at a motel then cheaper to go with Parkngo.

Anyhow, when you disembark you walk outside the terminal. There will be people there working, helping to get you going in the right direction. Tell them you are switching ships and want to catch the bus that takes you around to the other pier where your ship is. They will tell you which bus to catch. Tell the bus driver that you just got off of a cruise and going on another and need to get to that pier. It is free. At first our driver didn't understand and kept saying where is your car, had to tell him that I wasn't going to a car but switching ships to go on another cruise. He finally figured it out.

Or you could catch a taxi which is around $10.

There is a thread about this over on the Ft. Lauderdale departure boards.

Question re: Back to Back on the Breeze in Miami, or actually any Carnival sailing, I suppose.

What is the turnaround day in Miami like? I'd assume that there are special procedures to get through Customs/Immigration.

Any recent experience here to relate?

gary

The process is actually surprisingly simple! We did B2B on the Glory and this is how it went for us: we were given some type of a letter explaining the B2B procedures on our first leg, we were asked to report to the lobby at (about 10am IIRC) on debarkation/turn day with just our passports, an officer met us and took a head count (lots of B2B on this trip), and handed us our new sail and sign cards. Unfortunately you have to wait for all other guests to disembark, and we had some stragglers, but no control over that! Then they escorted us to customs where all they did was take a quick peek at our passport, and directed us back to the ship. We did not have to exit the customs area or go back to check-in. The officer simply took us back the same direction we came from and we went back on board. We were off the ship for maybe all of 10 minutes. Then we were free to go and enjoy the ship! Boarding began maybe 30min after that.

We switched rooms because an upgrade was available for leg 2, the stewards were very helpful in moving our things for us. No hassle and of course our new room was ready as soon as we got back on board.

My suggestion: take a walk of the promenade and lido before boarding, it's a cool sensation to not see any other passengers on board! Then find your absolute favourite deck chair and get comfortable :D

On our last B2B cruise we were able to purchase duty free on board and have it delivered on the last night of leg 1, so we had a nice stocked bar for leg 2. I'd heard rumours that this was going to be changing. Does anyone have any recent experiences with this? I know liquor is picked up on debarkation morning now, rather than the night before. But haven't heard much about whether or not B2B guests are getting flagged for this now. Obviously this was a big benefit of doing B2B!
