navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #106 Share Posted August 21, 2015 We also saw our first black bear of the trip. The ship followed us throughout the fjord.
navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #107 Share Posted August 21, 2015 The closer we got to the glaciers, the pieces of ice were getting bigger and more frequent.
navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #108 Share Posted August 21, 2015 The landscaping through the fjord was absolutely gorgeous.
gwenslibrary Posted August 21, 2015 #109 Share Posted August 21, 2015 Sorry if you have already said this, but were these pictures from the ship, or were they from an excursion? If so, how much was it?
navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #110 Share Posted August 21, 2015 Sorry if you have already said this, but were these pictures from the ship, or were they from an excursion? If so, how much was it? We did the small boat excursion is Tracy Arm Fjord. It was around $160 per person.
navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #111 Share Posted August 21, 2015 We veered off the ship’s path for a while and went to Sawyer Glacier. There were a ton of seals hanging out on the ice here. The color of the ice was magnificent. I had to shake my head at one lady commenting "how dirty" the ice was. navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #112 Share Posted August 21, 2015 We spent about 30 minutes at Sawyer Glacier and then we went back the way we came and met the ship at South Sawyer Glacier. This was as far as the cruise ship could go into the fjord. We got much closer! Here's a picture of me on our boat with the cruise ship in the background. You can see how far away they were. We spent about half an hour at the glacier.
navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #113 Share Posted August 21, 2015 The seals were even closer here than they were at the other glacier.
navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #114 Share Posted August 21, 2015 One of the crew brought up some ice that we could touch. After we were there for a while, the glacier started calving. We saw 4 or 5 little ones.
navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #115 Share Posted August 21, 2015 As we were pulling away from the glacier, the naturalist noticed a mountain goat. *Look at the little white spot in the middle of the picture* We went to go back to the ship and then there was a huge calving! navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #116 Share Posted August 21, 2015 The ice was such a gorgeous blue color. And they were quite big. Take a look at those kayakers in the water next to the iceburg.

The color of the ice was magnificent. I had to shake my head at one lady commenting "how dirty" the ice was.All I can figure is that she didn't understand all the minerals that are in that glacier. Your photos are really great - I especially liked the bear and the seals.
navybaby1113 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #120 Share Posted August 21, 2015 Was there lots of dining options, my DW found on Valor. not to much to offer, so she wanted to try a different line I personally was not a fan of the dining options on this ship. We're spoiled with Conquest class ships with the 2.0 upgrades.

SenatorsFan Posted August 22, 2015 #122 Share Posted August 22, 2015 I absolutely love all the glacier pictures. The blue is so beautiful. Thanks for the review. :) Heather
navybaby1113 Posted August 22, 2015 Author #123 Share Posted August 22, 2015 What else didn't you like about the ship? We enjoyed pretty much everything about the ship. The layout took a little getting used to, but it works well after we figured out how to get around. The only disappointing parts were the food and the activities (which isn't the ship, but the CD). NOSaints1 Posted August 22, 2015 #125 Share Posted August 22, 2015 Royal, Celebrity, Princess we can book in CDN dollars which is nice cause it would save us a ton of money, where as Carnival which we have 3 cruises on you can only book in U.S. Which is a problem with the dollar
