For everyone who calls it a boat.........

 

It's not a boat, It's a SHIP! :D :D

 

A boat is what you go in if you have an emergency evuacation. A ship is what you are on during your cruise. :rolleyes:

 

I've been wanting to post that for a long time, thanks for letting me vent!! :D

My husband always calls them boats, it drives me nuts. Another thing that drives me nuts, is dinning room and not dining room, nuts.

That is so funny you posted this here & now....JUST TONIGHT at dinner my 9 year-old DD was reminiscing about our Spring Break trip on the CRUISE BOAT! I could barely keep myself from LOL! It was pretty cute! :D

When we cruised on the Sovereign, Captain Loekling said the difference between a ship and a boat was that a ship has a captain and a boat has a frustrated husband and an angry wife!:)

It drives me crazy when my husband talks about sailing on a boat. I don't correct him in public (or even private) because he gets his feelings hurt so much. But I'd like to say to him "We are CRUISING on a SHIP!"

Hey--whatever floats your boat. There once was a cruiseline known for "The Big Red Boat". I think it is an issue of semantics. Also-those who have spent time in the military...have been known to use boat as a slang or jargon for a ship.

And to further complicate matters, submariners always refer to their craft as a boat, even though the boomers are well over 500 feet long and can easily carry several other boats!

 

Case in point, the company that builds submarines is: General Dynamics Electric Boat Corporation.
