What to wear horseback riding in Jamaica

We are booked on a Chukka a Horseback riding excursion and part is in the ocean. I've only been on a horse a few times and I think always with long pants and tennis shoes. (A Texan without a pair of boots.). So what should we wear? Would shorts be uncomfortable and rub or something? Would tennis shoes get sopping wet. I wouldn't think you'd ride in flip flops.

We did that on the Oasis in 2012 ... I actually had to look up the pictures to remember, but my husband actually had his bathing suit on and I had mine on under a pair of jean capris with sandals! When you go to the part where they take you in the water, you change into just your bathing suit and I believe we were bare foot, but can't tell from the pictures. They put the water saddles on the horses then. It's a fabulous time .. one I'll never forget! It should tell you what to wear in the instructions on the excursion anyway, but enjoy!
