Liberty of Seas - Upcoming Cruise

Recommended Posts

I have had chocolate martini's before -- always 'clear'. I was totally surprised when asked by Robert (Champagne Lounge btender) if I wanted it creamy??? I thought he was pulling my leg; but went for it. OMG -- it was so delicious. I have no pictures of any of the ones I had, sorry. They were the best chocolate martini's I've ever had. (For Everyone's Info -- I had the Ultimate package on that cruise and it was covered -- at that time.)

Thanks, added to my To Do list!! DH makes the most amazing chocolate martini, its clear not creamy and it tastes like you're drinking black forest cake.

Hi, I will be on the 09/05 5-day to Bermuda. Can someone tell me if one can still get specialty coffee on the ship? Thanks!

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought there used to be something where you could buy some kind of casino voucher at a discount (sorry for the poor explanation), where for example you could buy 25 credits for $20.

Given the one person's frequent, repetative negative diversions I would like to say: There are bound to be "issues" with 4000 to 8000 people living in a floating city the size of a small skyscraper.

I had a serious problem regarding a Chef's Table reservation on my last RCI cruise. When I approached guest services about it they took swift action. That night in the MDR the head waitress came to us and asked what happened (even though it was in another restaurant) and asked to see her after dinner. After dinner she had us speak to the Maitre D. He called in the Food and Beverage director. They refunded the meal cost ($140) gave us an onboard credit of $50, gave us a 20% discount on a future cruise and even offered us a free massage (We didn't accept) for all of the trouble.

I guess the point I'm trying to convey is: it's a vacation. Approach it as a vacation, not as of you a drill sergeant conducting a boot camp dorm inspection or expecting royal treatment on a mainstream cruise line. If there is a problem, Guest Services will correct it. I have received extraordinary service while on most of my cruises and I paid a very reasonable rate.

Wildberry???? I've only tried mango and it's my fav!! Something new to try!!

Can any other NYC pizza snob (yes, it's the best!!) comment on how they find Sorrentos? I know it's not going to be the best ever, but is it passable?

YES :D I found myself there often, don't expect NYC pizza! It is tasty but no where's near our pizza! It makes for a good in between snack though!

I just checked my upcoming cruise's "Cruise Planner", and I can confirm it's no longer listed as an option.

Glad to hear this, it wasn't their style to have something run like that. I sent in a review directly to the excursions folk at Royal and I am still communicating with them, I think they are truly trying to make things better.

Nancy,

I just looked over all of your lovely pictures in Alaska. I am thinking of going to Alaska next summer. Not sure which cruise line to go with. Looking at Crystal Cruise Lines to start with. I welcome any suggestions. I am a content solo traveler...

Hi Fraser,

The room service menu is in a book in the drawer, but on the Liberty, it is also on the TV and you can order on the TV. The chicken strips are Yummy and so is the cheesecake :)

We took several tours at each port. We enjoyed the tour of Acadia National Park. Got some neat pictures from this trip.

I am sure it will be an amazing trip. We are scheduled to do a NE cruise on the Grandeur next June and can't wait. Let me know what tours you took and liked.

Mary

Grandeur is doing Canada/New England in June? That's good news. It seems like it is a destination usually offered late August and into the fall. I would love to go in the summer myself and now it sounds like that is being offered!

After you get on board go straight to deck 11 to Windjammer's/Jade buffet for lunch. At embarkation go to deck 14 to "Oliver and Twist" bar to have a drink and watch the ship embark away from the dock, or go out on deck and watch it go under the bridge once you are past the great view of NYC...

Go to the art auctions for art prints, great quality prints of works. Talk to the heavier set women (tell her the woman who bought the Thomas Kinkade Lighthouse print sent you). She is extremely art knowledgeable, she is a former art teacher. You will get champagne at the auction and they have raffles for fun. I won one.

Ask for"Bronka" via, Lynsey the art teacher (that's me), and book a massage for a late night on one of the lower costing massage night deals. You have to look for these or ask. She is the best ever and so kind. A real treat to relax and get the stress out.

You have a balcony room. It is so worth the extra. It really is, and so romantic. Nothing like seeing the sun come up from your deck or go out in the middle of the night and see the stars, dark sky and sea all around you. If your room is on the port side you will see NYC right out there in front of you with the World Trade Center towering above all.

Hope you book an extra add-on into NYC for a few days, it will be awesome for you. Before or after the cruise is fine. Go to a Shake Shack in park for dinner one night to people watch and grab a great American burger or hotdog. The fries are really good. Use the buses to get around, a fun way to people watch and easy transportation. Check out the MOMA (Museum Of Modern Art) museum to see Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night". There is a sweet cafe there to get a drink or a bite to eat too. There is an amazing Monet waterlilies, giant painting there too. The Whitney Museum is brand new, just opened, and a cool design. If you go to Boston stop and get some food at "The Cheesecake Factory", lots of food and so good. Welcome to New England!!!

Thanks Mollyolly,

We will definitely try those out, The Viking crown is such a nice bar, one of my favourites on the ship. Yeah, we did our planning so we have our balcony on port side too :)

We have got 3 days in NY before we start out cruise, but with all our plans that is looking far too short!!

Only 10 days to go!...Not that I'm counting haha!

As for everyone else's comments - thanks they are all appreciated!

Myself, wife and 2 boys just did the August 8th Sailing to Bermuda. It was our 6th and first aboard Liberty. She is a beautifully maintained ship. You would never in a million years guess that she has a drydock scheduled in jan. It was a fantastic trip. We had 1706 deck10 Aft JS. Olive and twist is a great place to relax and have a few drinks at night. Yes sorrentos is barely pallable, but at mid-night..... Have a great trip. Dan
