Casinos At Sea - two certificates?

I have a question regarding the Casinos At Sea free cruises.

Recently, I booked my first cruise (Dawn, Boston to Bermuda) for October of this year using my CAS certificate. I now have received another certificate (from another casino) through CAS.

My question would be, can I use this new CAS to upgrade to a balcony or mini suite from my original booked inside cabin?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

TIA!!

This happened to me recently. No, you cannot combine two of your own certificates into an upgrade, you must use them or lose them.

However, if your cabin mate also has a certificate, that is eligible for a one-level upgrade (e.g., if you both have inside cabins, you can combine to get an oceanview).

You can also pay to upgrade your room, but be aware that the rate is the locked-in Casino at Sea rate. For example, I upgraded to a balcony for $320 pp. Even though a minisuite is currently only $50 pp more than the balcony rate on the NCL site, it would cost me $180 pp more to upgrade from balcony to minisuite through CAS.

I used my first for a short solo cruise and second for our upcoming Getaway family cruise, you have options.

Surprisingly, I was only charged fees for one passenger on the solo, so really inexpensive. NCL got the money at the spa and casino so they won, but I had fun too.

Thank you! This is really helpful.

Guess i will just have to book another cruise ;)

We upgraded from inside to picture window ocean view with CAS for just $90 per person which we felt was a great deal. We would rather cruise more often than use two certificates for one cruise:cool:

You could use the 2nd certificate for a back to back cruise out of Miami to save on airfare and try another ship if you have the time.

Such a nice dilemma....how many cruises to take:D

What is the "locked in CAS rate"? I've been booking through CAS for years and never experienced this. I can always tell if the price goes down on the NCL site and then contact CAS with price adjustments as long as it is before final payment. If the "locked in CAS rate" is something new, when did it occur and what is it?

When I book with a certificate for a free cruise, when I call CAS to upgrade, the cost of the upgrade is always the same from the base rate. For example, in our March 2015 cruise I was quoted a $180 pp upgrade from our free balcony. Even when the prices on the NCL site fluctuated to the point that it was only a $50 pp difference between booking a balcony and mini-suite, the price for me to upgrade was unchanged at $180 pp. A similar thing happened with our November cruise, the prices to upgrade were always the same even if they had dropped on the NCL site.

I don't believe this is the same as your situation booking through the CAS directly, as our "travel agent" listed on the documentation is the casino that gave us the free rooms ... but all bookings and changes are done through CAS agents.
