My family and I are trying to decide what cruise to take next year and the Ecstacy is one of them . I know it's an older ship. We have been on larger ships like the Dream and Freedom . So please tell me your thoughts ...Good and bad . The trip we take goes to Amber Cove , Half Moon Cay , and Grand Turk .

Ecstasy was my first ever cruise and I think she's even better now than she was then. There's a lot to be said for the older smaller ships, especially when they're rehabbed as nicely as ecstasy.

We've sailed on her and had a great time. It's a small ship which means you can get around easily. There isn't a second pool, so consider if that's important to you.

The itinerary looks like fun and hey, it's a cruise! I'd get a suite if there are any left for your trip. If not, just get an OV and enjoy yourself.

We will be on her for the "maiden" voyage out of Charleston, SC. that does AC/GT/HMC 7 night cruise. No brainer for us as it's 15 minutes from home.

People say it's a "smaller" ship but come on, it's HUGE! It holds lots of people, lots of food, has a pool, place for you to sleep, plenty of stuff to do. I understand the MEGA ships have more but they also have MORE people! I think the trade-off of less people makes her a great choice.

Go, have fun!

If you have not been on a Fantasy class ship before, then by all means try it out. We started small and then moved in to larger, newer ships. That way you can wring another great cruise in your cruising career.

If you have already been to a larger, newer ship, then dropping down to a Fantasty class will likely be disappointing if this is your "once-a-year" cruise. If you cruise more often, then you have the "salt air sickness" :) and any old ship will do.

Enjoy!

This will be my 9th cruise and have yet been on a Fantasy class ship . My brother and his girlfriend will be coming with us this time and it's their first cruise . HMC is really the deciding factor I think for us . Never been and pictures look amazing . Thank you all for your input

Sailed "Ecstasy" earlier this year, and had a FANTASTIC time aboard. Yes, she is an older, smaller ship, but has a great crew, outstanding food and service, and overall, just a wonderful cruise. I'd recommend her to anyone who wants a fun, relaxing time aboard.

The itinerary sounds great for a beach lover. The Ecstasy only has one pool, but it does have Waterworks with some pretty good slides. It does not have a steakhouse, or Guy's Burgers, or Blue Iguana, or a big screen on Lido. There is also not basketball court, but there is mini-golf. The theater and aft lounge will seem huge compared to the number of people onboard (way easier to find seats to the comedy club, although you may have to share a couch area with others. The Serenity deck is in a really cool place, off the aft of the ship. Not huge, but it has two hot tubs and nice loungers.

I sailer her last October. It was a great ship! I had so much fun! Never waited for ATD, my room steward, Pambuti was fantastic!! Got to see STYX on the ship! Food was good, but didn't do the buffet much...too crowded and better food in the dining room.

The entertainment was good and the embankment and disembark went super smooth. A vacation is what you make of it! Enjoy!

My husband and I will be sailing on her for our 23rd Carnival cruise the first weekend in October, if there is anything specific you can think of you want to know, post and I will try to get all the info for you and come back and let you know.

Only been on her once, she was the first ship we ever sailed on back in 2000, so we are kind of really looking forward to seeing her again. Having been on numerous ships I can tell you there is always fun things happening regardless of the class or size. Both Smaller and Larger ships have their pros and cons, so pick an itinerary and price you like and go with it.

For us, we just simply couldn't pass up the $159/pp price to cruise on her in October, so we snatched it up.

I am reminded of a cruise we were on a few years back.. when boarding the ship, they were handing out letters stating due to weather they were going to have to change some of our ports of call. A LOT of people were very unhappy with this. As we were being escorted to the VIP line by a very nice Carnival Employee (older gentleman), he started apologizing for the change (probably had a lot of people gripping at him all morning already) - I looked him square in the face and said "You know what, I am on vacation, I don't care if you take this big boat out in the channel and drive it around in circles... I am here and don't have to work." LOL!

It's all about what you make of it..... :-)

The Celebrity Constellation is the same price for 5 days. Better ship, food and atmosphere.

Only going on Ecstasy because we live in Florida, and we paid 149.00. Worth it for 4 days. I have been on Ecstasy twice. First time was ok. Second time we tried to leave with the guarantee, but they wouldn't let us. Giving it one last chance, since its leaving anyway.
