Jeans in Dining room

As a 20 something, yes I have worn dressy jeans with a fancy date night shirt in the MDR but I generally try to wear a skirt, dress pants, dress or something just a bit above jeans if I can. It just seems more appropriate. My nephew and fiancé both chose to wear khakis and button ups or polos.

I am not looking to start any kind of arguments about what is proper. Just want to know if the 20 somethings in our group can wear nice jeans ( no holes etc.) with a polo shirt on non gala nights. We will be on a Caribbean cruise during the holidays. Coming from South Florida, nice jean at dinner is fine. Thanks for your help.
