Taxi to ship in NYC - Sea Princess

We are sailing on the Sea Princess October 14, New England and Canada. Anyone joining us? We arrive in NYC a day early, so will take a taxi (or shuttle bus if available) to ship. Anyone know how far away (staying at Walforf Astoria) the ship is and how much it cost? Thanks

The trip across town (from the Waldorf) is only about 2 miles. However, seeing that October 14th is a Friday, traffic can be a nightmare. It could take an hour (or so) for the trip. The best route would be across 57th Street to the pier ... probably the quickest. With no traffic, the taxi fare should be less than 10 dollars. Since the time of the trip is also a factor, it could run up to 25 dollars (or so). Don't forget to tip the driver! The ship will be located at 12th Avenue, somewhere around 48th Street. (The terminal extends from about 46th Street to 51st Street.) The hotel is located between 49th and 50th Streets, between Park and Lexington Avenues (about 4th Avenue, or somewhere between 3rd and 5th Avenues; there really is no 4th Avenue in this part of the city). Have a great cruise! (I did this one southbound last year on the REGAL PRINCESS from Montreal to New York.)
