Best place to park to tour French Quarter?

There are parking lots between Decatur Street and the river. Download a map of the French Quarter to see where they are.

What may or may not turn out to be a less expensive option would be to park in the Harrah's Casino parking lot on Convention Center Blvd. Get a player's card, play the slots for 30 minutes and you get 24 hours of free parking.

I usually park at Canal Place if I am going to the French Quarter for anything. I find it's the easiest place to get in and out. Driving and parking in the French Quarter proper is a nightmare to me (and I'm a local), so I tend to park a little bit out of the Quarter and walk down.

Parking is validated with a $20 purchase in an of the shops, but even without the validation discount it's a deal for me because of the location.

I also agree that parking on Decatur Street riverside would be a good place. I don't know if the Natchez parking lot is pay to park or free, but if it is pay to park then you are OK......

When will you be there? Be warned, many historic houses and the Ursiline convent are closed in September. You won't be able to go to the cemetery on your own any more unless you are with a tour group and pay the tour price (which will include a fee they pay to bring tourists to see the cemetery).

Have fun!!!
