Just booking a cruise and the option of Prepaid Gratuities says this

Pre-pay your gratuities now (except tips for bar staff) and don't worry about it again.

This will add £116.96 to your package price.

This has been offered on the US site when booking online for a long time.

And on the UK site for a long while too.

 

If you have not pre-paid, they are automatically charged to your onboard account on a daily basis anyway. So the only difference is whether you want to pay in GBP now or USD later. Of course you have the option to remove auto grat altogether.

Bar staff were never included in the daily gratuities. Guess they just wanted to make it clear that you should tip bar staff individually if you wish.

Gratuity never included the bar staff that's why every drink includes an 18% gratuity and so are the drinks packages.

 

They are probably just clarifying the fact and whether that quote was previously included then I don't know and not something I purposely take a notice of.

That is because the bar staff tips are not, and have never been, included in the basic tipping program which only covers the dining room wait staff and your room steward. (Not sure if the new butler service will be included in the tip package or will be handled separately.) Bar staff are tipped at the time of service when 18% is automatically added to the voucher you have to sign.
