Bump out cabins?

We stayed in one on our Panama Canal cruise. We really liked the extra space on the balcony especially when transiting the canal. Suggest getting one that is at least partially covered and has some privacy -- meaning the people above you or to the sides can't see directly into your cabin!

We were in B504 on the Coral for the Panama Canal last spring. It's mid ship and the last cabin on the back of the bump out so wind was never a problem. The people that had the first cabins on the bump out could not use them because it was too windy. Since it's on the Baja deck, it is fully covered. The view from our cabin was incredible! Since it is the last cabin it was like floating out over the water with a 180 degree view in all directions! We have already booked the same cabin for Alaska for next summer.

A couple of things that some people might find as negative is that the balcony is small due to the curvature of the glass, the people in the receding cabins that are not on the hump can look up at you and you can look down on them but that never bothered us because we had such incredible views. We never even noticed the other people. Cabin B504 is across from the service closet and elevator where they unload and load the luggage but we never really were bothered by any noise. Here are a couple of pictures to show you the views.

Forgot to mention that B504 is a mini suite.

Went out of our way to reserve a 'bump out' cabin based on all the hoopla we were reading here on CC.

This might be a critical necessity for some, but we found that the best observations of Panama Canal and transit were from other locations on decks of the ship.

Suggest you get a nice and economical balcony to enjoy and spend the transit time on the various decks to take advantage of the views from those points.

Just opinion, but if we did that rip again we would likely get an OV or Inside and save the $$.
