Does anyone know if it's possible to rent a car at the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury? If not, is it easy to find taxis at the terminal?

Does anyone know if it's possible to rent a car at the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury? If not, is it easy to find taxis at the terminal?

 

There are no rental companies based at the port itself. The nearest would probably be Enterprise who have a depot in Grays and would no doubt either deliver a car to you or arrange to pick you up. Grays is about 8 miles from the cruise terminal.

Not entirely sure what we would do, perhaps head out to Canterbury or Leeds Castle. There will be 6-8 or us, so I think a taxi is not a good option. Thanks for the tip, though.

Tilbury is the wrong side of the river for Canterbury/Leeds Castle. To drive there involves a very busy Motorway and a toll bridge that doesn't accept cash. I have no idea how a hire company would deal with it but I am sure they have a way.

 

You would do much better to catch the ferry across to Gravesend and hire a car there. I see that Hertz and others are there. https://www.hertz.co.uk/p/car-hire/uk/gravesend

Thanks for the tip. Sadly, the ferry doesn't run on Sundays, which is the day that we would be in Tilbury.
