Being Casino rated

I know there's no easy answer on this, but I'm going to ask anyway. How does someone tell on the website if they have the discount? I think it was sometime last year I got a casino offer letter in the mail, but I couldn't take advantage of the cruises they were offering. I probably already had something booked and it just didn't work out with other stuff that was going on. Since then, I haven't received any other offer by mail. When I go into the website I never see a discount listed. Maybe incorrectly, I'm assuming the offer is for specific cruises?? So, is it just hit or miss if you see them? This is so confusing to me. I don't gamble a lot, but I do go to the casino a bit on every cruise. Any advice??

This may be a different type of casino discount than what is being discussed here, but we received an e-mail several months ago which outlined discounts for each cabin type with the inside cabins receiving the highest discounts. They didn't apply with the beverage package promotion or after final payment dates for cruises that were already deeply discounts. However, every cruise I looked into showed the discount but would only see it if you click on a specific room to see the final cost. I believe my promotion is good through the end of this year, so have taken advantage of it on several cruises.

I played in the slot tournaments, played the hold em poker machine and then the last time I played in there it was three card poker which I only did to use up the remainder of my "gambling" money and on my last hand (I went in blind, those who have played the game know what that is) I hit a straight flush and left the casino +500 and when we booked Regal for this weekend I got the casino credit.

I play in the casino on a regular basis, but usually only penny slots and the occasional Let It Ride table session. I am certainly NOT a big spender, lol, but over the course of a cruise do probably play (with wins and losses) around $500.

I never got a letter of any kind, and since I don't do the booking (we use a TA), I don't know if I got a casino rate, but I did see one of my on-board credits for my California Coastal is a "Casino Credit". Not sure what that is and why I have it and my cabinmate does not, lol, but I'll take it.

I thought at first it might have been something from the TA, but I would think my friend would have gotten that as well since she is the contact person with the TA, lol.

This seems to be a great mystery. My husband is currently getting the casino credit and due to it, we are taking a very inexpensive 4-day out of Houston in a few weeks. I have no idea how he became eligible. He is very conservative in his gambling. Now come to find out, our 22 year old son is apparently eligible as well. He cruised with us last December and also gambled some, again very conservatively. It's great for however long it lasts.

In regards to the question about slot tournaments...I entered one and it was my husband who got the email for the casino discount. One more thing to consider that we thought about is this is our yearly big trip so we do spend a lot on the ship on other stuff so perhaps they look at that too.

I've booked 4 cruises thru 2017 with my discount. As I understand it, the points that show on the display that you see when you insert your cruise card into a machine reflect the amount of "play" that you have registered with the casino. I believe that it is more a matter of "how often" you play rather than "how much" money you win or lose. I think that I was awarded my offer from a 21 day cruise that included a very rainy transatlantic crossing, many of those afternoons spent in the casino playing the penny slots. I didn't really win or lose, but did play a lot.

Do mock bookings on several cruises. Make sure you know what the original fare is. By the time you get to the dining option, you should see a nice reduction in fare from the original. Yes, it takes some work...

Thanks. I'll try this. I usually don't go all the way through the booking process when I'm "shopping" for a cruise. I'll try that. I am going on a 20 day cruise soon, so maybe I'll hit the casino more regularly and see if it makes a difference....just as a test to see what happens.

Remember, it's not offered on all cruises and is capacity controlled, so you may have to go through several mock bookings... try one or two 8 in 2017, that will be the faster way to find out if you qualify for it.
