Just some random thoughts on the Liberty of the Seas from Cape Liberty to Bermuda on 9/19/15

So sorry it's over. Very easy to drop luggage and park at Cape Liberty. Embarkation was slow for us..probably waited in lines from about 11:30-1PM. As I'd read on CC, Promenade Cafe was empty on embarkation day and great place to grab a quick lunch. As far as meals, we never saw the MDR during the 5 days. Did room service or Windjamer for breakfast, had one lunch in Windjamer and several off the ship in Bermuda (Frog and Onion at Royal Dockyard and Bistro Pub in Hamilton), absolutely loved the Vintages Wine Paring and Portofinos for two great dinners, and otherwise ate dinner at the Windjamer or even just grabbed pizza at Soreness to fit our schedule. Loved the shows that we went to (In the Air, Saturday Night Fever and Encore Ice Show) and parades we saw. Bars seemed to close very early (like about midnight) and the last night of the cruise, was surprised that bars and even casino closed early. I know that they were scheduled for a Coast Guard inspection Thursday when we got back to NJ, but surprised we had to suffer for that. Bermuda.....HOT!! Had a lot of fun at Pirate a Ship in Royal Dockyard with our kids. Could have done without the rocking on the way home. Loved our cabin (8256) on starboard side but afternoon sun in Bermuda made balcony a scorcher! Very easy getting off ship about 9:30, even though we had luggage tag 50 and were scheduled for 10:45. At 9:30 they announced that everyone left could leave and we found a short line to gangway. Our luggage was easy to find on the dock, and within minutes we were done with Customs and Imigration and on our way to the car. Very busy at Cape when we left terminal with lots of people waiting for pickups...glad we only had to cross the street to the car and the drive home.

We were on this cruise also.

Embarking and disembarking was very easy.... 15 minutes on and the same off. We did carry our own luggage off and parked across the street.

Overall the food was good. Tutti bar for lunch was amazing :) Most dinners in MDR were quite good. Hubby is very picky and seemed to find something every night. We didn't do any specialty food at all. Windjammer a couple days for breakfast and didn't find it too busy at all. We did think that the pizza was different from our last cruise on the FOS...... just ok.

Loved Bermuda!!!! We spent the first day in St George's at Fort St Catherine's beach. The cute little bar was open serving freshly grilled food, drink and alcohol. Chairs and umbrellas for rent, port a pots and a beautiful nearly empty beach. We loved the snorkeling there. Lunch at Wahoo's...... the wahoo nuggets were so good! Swizzle's are much better at the Swizzle Inn we thought.

Day 2 was Horseshoe bay...... we tried to do the long walk to Warwick bay buy the heat and humidity was too much, we did eat at Swizzle Inn which was good. I liked the dark and stormy better than swizzle, but hubby liked the rum swizzle.

I think they could make so much more money off of us tourists if they would improve shopping at the port, but love that there is not pushy sales people or haggling.

We did think the LOS was a little worse for wear and that the crew was not near as friendly as our previous cruise on FOS. We loved the whole overall experience and will do Bermuda again for sure.

We ended up in Bolaro's almost everynight and did not care for the guy in the Scooner bar. Loved the Saturday Night Fever show. Wanted to try Olive and Twist, but never quite made it.

We would have loved more time in Bermuda :)

I'm curious as to what time you got to Cape Liberty as your boarding experience was very different from ours. My daughter us taking the same cruise next week and I'd like to give her advice.

Agree...the piano player in that bar was not the best. The best bar musical set we saw was the "Jazz" set at Olive and Twist. They label it wrong as its really American Standards and features the singers from In the Air and Sat Night Fever. It was wonderful andvtheyvwere very talented. Sadly, it ended at midnight and then the bar closed. One night we closed every bar but the little one at the end of the pizza place. Think they need to review their bar hours!

I'm sure they have, and I'm guessing that it saves them money, both with payroll and with less drinks served. Bean counters at work.

We arrived around 11:15 and we're on the boat about 20 minutes later. There was a short line but it all moved very smoothly. We hung out on the pool deck and got lunch at the promenade. It was a beautiful sail away from the heliport.

We were also on the cruise and found embarkation quick and easy. Arrived at port about 11:20, dropped off luggage, parked and walked back to terminal. No wait at security. After security we were directed to Gold 9 line. After maybe 10 minutes in line, checked in and went straight to ship. Walked on board at exactly 12 noon.

We were also on that cruise. I can't imagine that the crew could have have been any friendlier and accommodating. I thought that our cabin attendant and wait staff were terrific.

I was disappointed that there was no music in the bars pre dinner and. Most of all disappointed that the cruise director scheduled the late night comedy in the theater and the Jazz show in Olive or Twist at the same time. Tough choice!

I think the problem is the 5 night cruise. There us much more time on the 9 night that alternates with the 5, and know that there were several musical sets that weren't even scheduled during our cruise. I agree about the pre dinner music and would also like some quiet music in some of the bars so you could talk and still be entertained.

We were on same sailing on the 19th. As this was my first cruise and I have nothing to compare it too, I thought the whole experience was great. I thought the crew very friendly and accommodating in every way, especially our waiters in MDR and room attendant. Found the heat and humidity a little tough in Bermuda but really loved our time there. We sort of did our own thing and walked around Hamilton and some how made it up to Fort Hamilton in that heat but the view was worth the effort! Have a cruise planned back to Bermuda in May but this time on NCL out of Manhatan so will be interesting to compare the two experiences. I am thankful we left on 19th and not this coming weekend with the hurricane approaching!

Interesting that the embarkation wait times differed. I wonder if diamond/diamond plus lines moved more quickly? The OP apparently arrived 15 minutes after the other two and their wait was well over an hour.

I'm going on LOS in a couple of weeks and we are going to try and arrived around 11 if we can. We'll see how it goes.
