Did you have to wait long at the airport to get a taxi ? Ed

We just left the Allure on Sunday and didn't have to wait for a taxi at either the airport or at the port. In both locations the attendant directed us immediately to a waiting taxi.

We left BCN around 1 PM-ish and left the ship around 8:30 AM.

This evening we went to Coastal Kitchen for dinner at 6am. Our waitress was excellent but the Maitre D was awful. First she made a song and dance over my son (who was fast asleep in his buggy) because he was not on the reservation although I clearly told them the day before. Next she sat us at a table which had no room for my son so he ended up behind me where I couldn't see him and lastly she made a snotty comment about him saying 'I just hope he stays asleep for the entire dinner' before marching off.

Thanks for your review. We are on Allure in 3 weeks time so I hope the Maitre D does not make a comment like that to us, or she will get an earful. I can't stand rude waiters.

Day 3 - Marseille

Another fun day here! Took the shuttle into the port and wandered around for a few hours. No one checked our tickets in either direction which I thought was unusual. You have to pick a departure time (09:30, 10:00, 10:30 or 11:00) but as far as I could see, the buses run continually. The port is full of little cafes and bars, and there is a little train that brings you to Notra Dame. It's not a place where you would do a lot of shopping.

After we got back, we headed to the Park Cafe for some lunch, went for a bit of a walk and then got ready for a sale away party in the Suite Lounge. Plenty of wine, rum punch, and margaritas to be had as well as some food... Shrimp, meatballs, canapés, spring rolls etc.

Yesterday we received a cheese and fruit plate and today we got little mini desserts in our suite. Our original plan was to go to the main dining room after the sail away party but neither of us was hungry so we just brought my son to the Windjammer for food. Of course we ended up having dessert as well.

We watched the Aquashow from our balcony and noticed that they had to change some of it because of the weather. They didn't dive from the top and they couldn't do the trampoline act because the water from the pool was sloshing around.

Saw Mamma Mia as well tonight and I thought it was excellent. The main characters are all really good... I've seen the show on Broadway and I thought it was every bit as good.

Can feel a fair bit of movement on the ship at the moment... Maybe because we are all the way aft its more noticeable. Again no plans for tomorrow but we'll see in the morning what we are going to do.

If you get a mo (!) can you ask how much Giovannis Table is for lunch please - reports seem to vary between $10 and $15

Can you also find out if Sabor is open on boarding day for lunch?

TIA.

$15 for lunch! Dinner is $25 but we got 20% off!

Day 4 - La Spezia

Went to the Suite Lounge for breakfast this morning... It is so much better than the Windjammer! We had made to order omlets and strawberry pancakes with coffee and orange juice.

Went in around La Spezia for a few hours this morning. The weather was glorious so it was nice just strolling around. The town has lots of jewelry and shoe shops. Again we were back on board for lunch so we went to the Park Cafe.

The afternoon was spent swimming, drinking wine and then getting ready for dinner. Tonight we dined in Izumi - Hibachi. I had the NY Strip Steak and Chicken combo and my Mom had scallop & lobster combo. Food was lovely but I was too full to appreciate the dessert! I got the sampler dessert but only managed a taste of each. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet. 4 at our table and 5/6 at another so one was completely empty. That side of the restaurant holds 24 people.

We're not going to get off the ship tomorrow, I think Rome is a little far away to bring a toddler. Then tomorrow night we have a reservation for Sabor.

Oh almost forgot... We got a plate of fruit delivered to our cabin this evening.

Day 5 - Civitavecchia

We went to the Suite Lounge again for breakfast... It really can't be beaten. Food is cooked fresh and is quick. Really important with a toddler. Got off the ship today and wandered around Civitavecchia for a few hours. It's a small enough town with one Main Street which has a few interesting shops. The train station is well sign posted and a lot of people were walking in that direction. I believe it's easy to catch a train to any of the other Cinque Terre towns as well getting a train to Pisa.

After we came back on board, we grabbed some lunch in the park cafe, then sat in the sun for an hour or so while my son slept. Followed this with 2 glasses of wine in the Suite Lounge and then it was time to get ready for dinner! For dinner this evening we went to Sabor... It was excellent. My favorite meal so far. Between myself and my mother we got the tasting menu for $19 and an extra portion of tacos for $5... So much food! The waiters were really good with my son and brought him some fruit to eat when he got restless. As we had booked several speciality restaurants before boarding, we got 25% off Sabor so it made it excellent value. Of course we had to wash the food down with some of their margaritas and these were excellent as well.

After dinner we went to watch the Dreamworks Parade which my son LOVED!

Tomorrow night we are going to Giovanni's for dinner and we have Samba Grill reserved for the following night.... Although we are now thinking of going to Sabor again instead.

hey, thanks for your reviews so far, I am finding them really interesting as I am on the Allure in 2 weeks time with a 4 year old in a suite. Could I ask about drinks in the Coastal Kitchen.. could you get the drinks from the suite lounge and then drink them in CK? We don't have a package as I don't think we would drink enough during the day, but if we are eating in CK would like a glass of wine. We plan on eating in CK every morning for breakfast, do you find it very busy? Thanks!

Yes, easy to get a drink from the bar and walk to CK. There is really no separation between the lounge, bar, and CK area. Wine and beer are available from 11am to 11pm. Cocktails during the cocktail hour from 6pm to 8:30pm.

Day 5 - Naples

Went to the Suite Lounge for breakfast... Anyone see the emerging pattern! Then went in around Naples for a few hours. My first impression of Naples wasn't good, between the crowds, annoying taxi drivers and venders hassling us for busy, people begging, motorists everywhere etc! However once you move towards the main shopping street, things got better. In fact we did the most shopping here by far. The Hop On Hop Off bus is really close to the ship too.

After we came back onboard we went to the Windjammer for something small to eat. Then it was time to visit the suite lounge for our glass of vino before getting ready for dinner. Can't remember what we received in the room this evening - it was either a plate of fruit or some desserts.

Tonight we dined in Giovani's... In general I thought the food was good but the service was slow. We had three starters between us and each was excellent. Both main courses were good (Sole and Fillet) but the Risotto side was only ok. For dessert we had a mini cannoli filled with white chocolate and rum... This was ok too.

Tomorrow we're at sea... Unfortunately I don't think the weather will be good.
