Is it me or has cruise prices gone thru the roof?

Just did a comp on 7-night Allure and Celebrity for the same week out of FLL in 2017, and can get the Celebrity cruise including drink package for two + $150 OBC for less than a comparable balcony cabin on Allure:cool:

I agree. Look at Celebrity. Their prices for the Caribbean can be quite the deal considering they frequently package their rates so that oceanview and higher receive either a free drink package, OBC, or gratuities. No Celebrity does not cruise the Caribbean year round and is also not going to be the best option for families with children...not rock wall, flow rider, skating rink, etc. But they have an awesome martini bar!

The key (in my opinion) of getting a good deal is shopping around and certain months, usually September through early December. We are going on the Oasis in 10 days and was thrilled with $769 p/p for a boardwalk balcony with $100 OBC, a free specialty dinner and $50 daily free play in the casino. We are not even huge gamblers but I received a postcard from Royal with the free play offer and my TA was able to get it for me for the sailing we are on. I also jumped on the Harmony when prices first came out and scored a Central Park balcony for $681 p/p for January 2017. Really a long way off but the price was too good to pass up. Look at the Harmony prices now. Insane

I agree with just about every single point in both of your posts.

I'm leaving in a few weeks for a 15 night transatlantic on Celebrity for $799pp with $525 OBC! :D

I'm doing a 35 night B2B New Zealand and transpacific on Explorer OTS in April for only $1670pp!

Right now you can book a 27 night B2B on Rhapsody OTS from Rome to Barcelona to Sao Paulo for $1448pp with $550 OBC. And THAT price is higher than it was a week or two ago. ;)

Plane tickets through Choice Air are dirt cheap even when booking last minute. My flight to Rome is only $455pp

The cruises I take are almost cheaper than staying at home... thanks primarily to those folks staying in suites and funding the casinos.

Fred, I am very impressed with the deals that you have described here. I am sorry that we did not get a chance to meet on the cruise, but I was wondering if I could call you or email to you for your tips and getting deals like these? Ken

We got 1544 $ for two balcony cabin on Harmony Dec 3,2016 7 nights western caribbean. If you can plane way ahead you can usually get a good deal.

Diamond + RCCL

Elite + Celebrity

Gold Oceania

I agree planning ahead you'll save! I got a cruise for $900 for 4 days and $150 on board credit. Not too bad

You just need to pay attention to deals. I book whatever cruise I want at whatever the price and then check weekly to see if it goes down.

I snagged a balcony on the Harmony (April 22nd 2017) for 1050 per person (me and the girlfriend), and that was in Canadian Funds.

RCCL prices have definitely gone thru the roof the last couple of years. Guess they need to pay off all the new mega ships that are going out to sea half full.

Just my two cents.[

Yes the prices have gone through the roof.Diamond and won't sail Royal again until the price comes comes down. And the anthem leaves Cape Liberty.:)
