Princess excursion Tranz Alpine Railway Akaroa

Is the Tranz Alpine Railway Princess excursion in Akaroa worth doing?

It is very expensive and I wonder if we would be better off to spend that money on something else.

I would appreciate thoughts on this excursion.

Also, what are the alternative points of interest which should not be missed, if we decide to do another excursion?

It is a long journey to get to the start of the rail trip and of course the same length back to Akaroa.

I think you would be better to spend your money on the Taiarei Gorge rail journey in Dunedin. This is truly a fantastic experience and better than the Trans Alpine in my opinion.

We will be joining you in Auckland on the 29th.

Do the Trieri Gorge Railway ships excursion from Dunedin instead much better. In Akaroa just go ashore and explore, a delightful little piece of France in New Zealand .
