Tipping Butler

Is there a standard for tipping Butler. I'm looking more for a baseline just for normal service. Thoughts are suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Please be advised that the gratuity amount for Suite guests is $16.45 per person per day. This amount includes tipping for all staff and crew that will assist you during your sailing.

For just "standard" what ever is suggested by line if you have great service from him tip extra. Last butler we had, never wanted for anything breakfast on balcony every day did dining reservations. We even had dining room supper brought to room. Needless to say he got treated real well.

And I've received excellent service without tipping anything over the minimum. Good butlers don't need to be bribed to perform superior service. Bad staff can be over-tipped and still not perform up to the minimum level. Those who are butlers generally are the go-getters anyway. Tip them extra if you feel like it, but it's certainly not a requirement or an expectation.

Thanks Celebrity and all for the quick reply's. I just wanted to make sure that he was included. I would hate to think I was tipping extra for great service and find out I didn't tip enough.

The butler is definitely included in the standard gratuities.

Before the recent gratuity price increase, the butler received $3.50 in gratuities for each person in a suite each day.*

So for a 7 day cruise with 2 people in a suite, you were already giving him a $49 tip.

My experience is that cabin staff are more concerned about a favourable report in the post cruise questionnaire than a few dollars. The post cruise questionnaire I am told has a marked impact on future employment. If you think your cabin staff have done a great job make sure you say so in the end of cruise report
