ship to Ajaccio?

Hmmm. According to Google Earth it is approximately 580 feet from the aft of the ship to the closest streets in town :). Depending on which door of the ship is in use you can add a few hundred extra feet. And it is an uphill slope (they do not want the waves washing over the town). As to whether you need transportation, that is a personal matter. We just got off a cruise where apparently healthy folks would wait 15 min for an elevator rather then walk down a single flight of steps. And then there are those of us who happily walk several miles to get the circulation flowing :).

The last time we were in Ajaccio DW and I walked from the pier through town and ultimately spent a wonderful day on the local beach. We also saw others who did not even bother to get off the ship. Different strokes for different folks.
