Balata gardens / St. Pierre beach

Could someone please tell me how far are the Balata gardens from the port, could you get there by public transport, if not how much would it be in a taxi ?

 

Also, we may like to go to the beach at St. Pierre, could this be done after a visit to the gardens, or are they in opposite directions.

 

Finding it hard to find any info.

The Balata Garden is only a few miles away from the port, but depending on the traffic, it may take 20 minutes to get there. The entrance fee was 14 euros/pp two months ago. Public transport in that direction is partially reliable, so I strongly advise you to take a taxi (from the port, most of them can propose you a tour to the Garden AND Saint-Pierre).

 

There is also the possibility to choose a food tour with Karambole Tours that includes the tropical rainforest, a small waterfall, a distillery and a quick stop at Saint-Pierre. They have a website and a Facebook page.
