Accessing the Walls in Old Town, Puerto de Alcudia

Can you tell me where we access the Old Town perimeter walls so that we can walk above the town when we visit Puerto de Alcudia, Spain? Is there an admission fee?

I assume you are talking about Alcudia in Mallorca? The walls are in Alcudia, not Puerto de Alcudia, which is a tourist resort. No entry fee, and access to the walls is easy - just walk round the base to one of the entry staircases. The wall is not very long.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am talking about Alcudia. Our ship will be in the port. To clarify, we just walk through the gate and the stairs are right there?

I wasn't aware cruise ships docked at Alcudia ? Surely they dock at Palma.

As I recall, there are 3 gates, only two of which are still connected to the walls. Seriously, the walls will only take you 5 minutes to walk around, so no need to worry about access.

Several cruise lines are docking at Alcudia next year.

 

It is not a port I would chose an itinerary for personally - certainly not a patch on Palma - but perhaps a useful change of destination for people who have visited all the usual Med ports on past cruises. http://www.majorca-mallorca.co.uk/alcudia.htm

 

A short distance from Alcudia (just 13km so wouldn't cost much in a taxi) is Pollensa town that is far more interesting and well worth a visit IMO http://www.seemallorca.com/pollenca

Totally agree about Porto de Alcudia - no reason to visit there at all, although I suppose as a 'beach day' it might be OK.
