Mid-Oct trans-Atlantic weather

How "brisk" is the N. Atlantic in October? Shall I bring a heavy overcoat? Raincoat? Windbreaker? Does one ever go outside the ship in October?? Should I expect rough seas? (Forgive my ignorance--- I'm a native Floridian, with thin blood!) Thanks for your sage advice!!

I am a Michigander used to cold weather. I have done a crossing in early October and wore a light jacket, sweatshirt, and t-shirt in layers on the early morning returning to NY. Most of trip was sunny, but cold enough I stayed mostly indoors. You can find some out of the wind places that will be warmer.

Considering your "thin" Florida blood, if I were you, I'd take a jacket you'd wear on a rainy winter evening, which in your area usually means winter coat, scarf, and mittens!! (I have relatives down there, so I know.) Or take a lighter jacket and add layers underneath.

If you are lucky, you will get sunny days with 70 degree temps. Nights could be as cold as 40 degrees. Also consider that you will always have a wind outdoors equal to the speed of the ship.

I'm also from Michigan. My husband was so cold, and I tend to get overheated, and I loved cooling off in the cold wind! Floridians should have winter coats, mittens and scarves. You'll be cold!
